Bit of a bother this has been, on my door bowden cable, the hook on the inside of the door (latch side) snapped off. Bought a replacement, took off plastic doorcard, took out a few bolts from the metal side, hit a roadblock.

No idea how i’m supposed to get it off, and also my window has stopped working so i definitely need to get the metal sheet on the inside off of the door. Any help greatly appreciated, Thanks.

have a look at attached video. its a passat, but its the same procedure for this gen superb.

basically, the door lock mechanism and the window regulator come out as a unit, youll need to somehow get the glass out of the window regulator and prepare to remove the door lock mechanism.
