67 Plate Superb, 20,600 Miles Requires New Gearbox - Loose Bolts Damage From Aux Pump

Featured Replies

Hi all, new to the forum and looking for some help if possible.

I currently own a 67 plate Skoda superb sel executive, 2.0tdi 150bhp model with the 7 speed dsg gearbox, it currently has 20,600 miles on the clock since new (yes I know it is low it was my grandfathers ex motorbility car which I then purchased off him) recently a gearbox warning light come up and on some investigation I found that it is common for the 7 speed dsg , I had it plugged in with the AA which shown a code of "p0c2900 ACTUATION ON ANCILLARY HYDY PUMP, TRANSMISSION OIL, SIGNAL IMPROBABLE" after that I then put it into my local skoda garage who plugged it in and said that there is no cost and it is covered under a "service campaign" from 2023 which is some sort of software update regarding a oil pump? (which skoda has never informed me of), so skoda have had my car now for 6 weeks after waiting for a special tool, and today they have told me that I require a new gearbox at a cost of £7783. I have been told that the service campaign repair brought up another fault and that fault was "AUX PUMP COVER BOLT HAD COME AWAY FROM COVER, CAUSED DAMAGE TO CROWN WHEEL". when I have contacted skoda they have said that loose bolts is not a manufactures issue and that I am expected to pay, my argument is that I have read many other stories similar on Facebook skoda pages again where they seemed to be 67 plates dsg and they have had replacement gearboxes fitted for free all in 2023, to which my argument is if I wasn't made aware of the service campaign how was I meant to know. Has anyone experianced any issues similar to this or able to help, would be highly appreciated

Many Thanks

Do you have the full service history? If so was it serviced in accordance with the manufactures schedule - many motability cars are not. If alls well (& even if it’s not to be Frank) I suggest you send an email to MD of SUK, Matthew Bowden. Note this was a Motability car and that they had not passed on the recall to your Grandfather and now the car is effectively a write off so plead with him for help.

Full service history and they have offered me a repair for £7783, when they got the car I was told no charge for diagnostic etc as it was a service campaign and now I’ve been given a bill of £756 to pick it up without suspension attached or to re attach suspension and gearbox in boot so I can roll it £945

Did you authorise the stripping or did you just authorise the service campaign?

According to the party line from the garage the recall and the damage are unconnected and to be fair, if a crownwheel bolt really did come loose causing the breakdown it is indeed nothing to do with the service campaign.

"You welded my daughters car and now she is pregnant!" - yes I really did hear that one once!

@UndertheRadar asks the very pertinent question.

I realise I have misread the text, not crownwheel bolt but cover bolt, I would negotiate to get the vehicle back without paying and then inspect the crownwheel, if they don't play ball tell them you will bring an expert with you to their premises to make a formal insection and report.
