What do flashing hazards 3 times after switching ignition on and off twice mean?

Featured Replies

After switching ignition on, then off, then on again, then off again, without removing the key, the hazards come on for 3 cycles. The beeping for when I lock/unlock the car also sounds 3 times. What does it mean? I found nothing regarding this in the manual or anywhere else.

Do the doors lock at the same time?

Funny things happen if the door open/closed microswitch in the door lock has failed, or its cable in the trunk between body and door has broken.

Next time you do this, look for the driver's door open icon on the dash.

Additionally, report back if the door locks as soon as you turn off the ignition.

The doors do not lock. I am able to exit the car normally after doing it. On the maxidot there is nothing displayed regarding any door being open. The passenger side door, however, registers as open only if it is opened silghtly, as in not closed properly, that "inbetween", but I don't think it has something to do with that.

Sounds a bit unusual, they don't normally beep either. I wonder if it's got an aftermarket immobiliser on?

Confirmation beep and indicator flashing are all long coding options in VCDS.

It sounds to me that the drivers door lock microswitch is not functioning, ignition on and off 2 times in short succession probably has the same effect on the alarm as pressing the door lock button on the keyfob twice which I think is has long coding options.
