Downpipe for 220

Featured Replies

Hi guys and gals, I'm sure the answer is somewhere in the forum, but I can't find it, so sorry.

I want to go to stage 2 with my L&K 220 and so, need a downpipe. I'd like to get one with a sports cat, but I can't find one anywhere. I've seen that the Octavia vRS one should fit? But has anybody actually fitted one?

I know all the MQB cars have the same downpipe but it's the link to the OEM exhaust that worries me as the Superb is larger.

Thanks in advance.

Hmmmm….if you’ve got a GPF in the downpipe is there a chance of failing MOT on emissions?

Otherwise, if not Skoda versions, can you also look at other VAG models?

Mines too early for a GPF, so I don’t have to worry about that.

I’m happy to look at other models but don’t know where to start really. If anyone has an idea I’m all ears.

downpipes for FWD MQB is wat u need to look for.

hence downpipes for mk7 Golf GTi or mk3 Octavia RS will work for the Superb, although the Golf ones might b a tad short.

ideally get a Catted downpipe.

the Catless downpipe r rowdy and create a stink.

Thanks @JR RS That’s what I’m worried about, I don’t want to buy a Downpipe and it’s too short. So you recon the Octavia one will be long enough?

Thanks also on the info on the cat. I don’t want it droning away while I’m on the motorway.

@JR RS can help with that too - the middle resonator removal (after the cats) has the highest risk of drone but there is a guy (in Norfolk I think) who fabricates them with a Hemholtz tube so there's no drone.

Not sure on Octavia but Cupra Formentor exhaust parts have been used on Superb with success which could be an option.

@RichTea77 - I've heard of mk7 Golf GTi downpipes being short.

Hence I would recommend going for the Octavia RS version if u have a FWD.

If u have an AWD Superb, then get one suited for the Arteon or Passat B8.

@travs - I've fitted the RPM Performance Resonator Delete Anti-drone pipe on my FWD Superb, that was designed for the Octavia RS.

I had initially bought one for the mk7 Golf GTi, thinking it was the same, but it was short and didn't have the right angles at the bends.

For AWD Superb owners, the Cupra Forementor resonator Anti-drone delete pipe is wat u want, not the Golf R one.

I chatted to him - they removed it from a couple of models including the Superb from 2019 onwards so no joy for mine.

Was just thinking if OP was worried about droning, then when the time came to a resonator delete, the RPM one would be worthy.
