Looking at adding a temp gauge

Featured Replies

Hi all! My 1.4 16v doesn't have a temperature gauge, only the blue and red coolant symbols. Personally I'd prefer to see some kind of reading just fpr monitoring purposes. I'm aware there are clusters available with that information however km struggling to get hold of one. Is there any way I can add A temperature gauge to the car? I assume id need to slice into the wires that feed this information to the cluster? Thnks!

I got one from ebay years ago for an old toyota that the guage had failed. Only fitted it as the 3CTE engine was prone to overheating.

Looked a bit like this one. Not sure of the diameter of pipe on yours and where to fit it.

Appreciate your reply mate, ill do a bit of research to see if its viable! Its only because I'm not a fan of having no bearing of engine temperature apart from a little light that tells me when its too cold or too hot! Maybe I'm just old fashioned!

Not at all. If the temp is rising I would want to know as if it gets to the point an alarm or light comes on and you can't find a safe place to stop its not good. The old Toyota lucida I had had the temp sensor at front of engine but rear was always hotter so if it overheated they were prone to cracking cylinder heads between the valves. I also had an extra alarm that told me if the temp was rising quickly as the guage tended to show a lower temp than it was and was very slow to react. Never had a car without one.
