Black shiny panel at bottom of steering wheel

Featured Replies

I notice this feature which just looks like a touch screen for a mobile phone but doesn't seem to do anything when you do touch it.

Anyone know what it's for exactly?

It's a silly question? I'm just presuming it's got some function

Do you have a photo of the black shiny thing?

This is a stock photo as I'm not in car right now, but it's identical to this:-

If you swipe your finger from right to left, you get a physical reminder that you couldn't afford a Sportline, L&K vRS or Monte Carlo 😆

In case you are being serious though - it's a bit of plastic piano black trim! On models such as above, it will say L&K there, or whatever trim your car has.

My last car was 11 years old so this brand new Octy feels so hi tech to me and even a month into driving it every day brings a fresh batch of beeps, buzzes, flashing graphics etc and the car seems to be bristling with sensors....so I just thought this may have some function rather than just being a piece of trim...

A lot of stuff is touch sensitive, but this isn't one of them. I didn't get on very well with a Mk8 Golf courtesy car I had for a while, so when buying my vRS I made sure to get the newest, lowest mile MK3.5 I could.

Higher spec models have the spec level of the car there….. vRS, SportLine etc……

Here’s mine.
