Disable light inspection with VCDS

Featured Replies

Hello everybody,

I would like to request your support.

Recently I changed the day light running halogen bulbs to LED bulbs on my Fabia MK3 2016.

Unfortunately my car gives me an error message to check the lights.

Is there any way with VCDS to disable the light inspection / checking function on my car?

Thanks for your support!

Sounds like you might have bought some cheap or lower quality LED bulbs, if you disable the inspection warning then you won't know when these bulbs fail, which might be soon if they are really cheap and/or really low quality, or when another lighting fault(s) happen (real or car computer brain-fart(s)).

If you have not already tried and you have access to VCDS, or other appropriate scan tool, you could try deleting the error code and see if the warning goes out and remains out.

I put some decent day light running LED bulbs in my wife's 2015 Fabia Mk3 which she has lit all days and they have been fine and not caused any warnings. Previously with the incandesce bulbs fitted the poorer quality VW bulb holder(s), VW wiring, VW computers caused false warnings (one for rear tail and one front DLR) and was slow to report (the other side) DLR front bulb that took a week to show what was a warning to my eyes (bulb discolouring).

Hello,

Could you plese give me the concrete type of the LED bulb you used in your wife's car?

Honestly I bought the most expensive "Canbus LED" one offered by the dealer.

It's worth a try to use a different one before do any coding.

Best regards.

Have you tried putting the previous bulbs back in to make sure it is the LED bulbs at fault? ETA: I have seen owners that like me have had to replace the incandescent DLR which might suggest a fault with the VWŠkoda bulb holder, connector, wiring or other. The RHS incandescent bulb I replace was the most discoloured car bulb I have ever replaced and the bulb holder was discoloured like it had been scorched (more modern German engineering (low) quality on the car).

Perhaps you need to use ballast resistors (see below) with your present (and perhaps future) LED bulbs.

See link below, I put the "WHITE" bulbs in which show a blueish white but I would have preferred the "warm white" for their more classic incandescent appearance.

BUT - note the seller's warning -

"These bulbs are canbus error free so can be used in modern cars too though not guaranteed suitable for VW/Audi as they run a different system. Although the vast majority of our customers do not experience any problems, with any aftermarket bulb and especially LEDs, it is not always possible to exactly match your own vehicle's canbus system. This can even vary from vehicle to vehicle with the same make and model. This may lead to bulb failure warnings being shown. If this is the case you will need to purchase ballast resistors which will solve the problem. We have these available."

I had no problems just using these LED bulbs they did not need ballast resistors on my wife's (UK) 2015 Fabia.

Hello,

If the light works why replace it, do below coding

Coding is as follows;

Unit 09 Central Electronics - Adaptation

Each Leuchte channel is a lamp in your car, find appropriate one (Can take trial and error)

Generically;

Odd Number = Right, Even Number = Left.

BLK = Blinker / Indicator

BR = Brake

NL = Nebel (Fog Lamp)

SL = Running Lights

KZL = License Lamps

RFL = Reversing Lamps

ABL = Dipped Beams

FL = High Beams

so, Leuchte20BR LA70, (Ignore the end part) would be the Left brake light.

If it helps find, go into the channel you think it is, set Light Function A to Aktiv 100% and code, see if the lamp illuminates.

Once you've found the light you need, you want to change channel Type Of Load to an appropriate setting. For example, my LED indicators are set to "LED Blinkleuchten", for others you can just use AllgemeineLEDmitOpenLoadDiagnose. I believe this stands for roughly "LED light without diagnosing" so it shouldnt show up errors. Theres also "LEDKleinleistungohneOpenLoadDiagnose". Just try them, if it still throws the error try another.

I've used cheap, expensive, mid tier LEDs in my car and they can be so variable, its trial and error really.

Hope this helps
