What have you done to your Kodiaq today?

Hi,

Here is the pic: 1800km after switching to ATE ceramic brake pads.IMG-1031.avif

Rims started becoming a little bit dirty already, even before brake pads replacement...

Not too bad I think... I'll take new pics after several thousands of km

  • Impossible! You couldn’t possibly have done 460,000km today! Some rough maths say that would take over 600 tanks of fuel (at a generous 750km/tank)… at 5 minutes to fill and pay for each, that’s over

The today's evening joke:

Which leads to this (raw result):...

IMG-1237.avif

Fortunately, after a quick high pressure cleaning, this is 'only' this:

IMG-1258.avif

No dent on the bodywork, only supercial scratches on the clear coat layer. I think I could manage to remove them after a decent polishing...

If I don't need more, I would say I've been lucky in the end...

I'll have a better look tomorrow with natural daylight. Anyway, I have noted down his plate number, just in case.

Since I was ending an overtaking maneuver, I was focused on my right blind spot and didn't pay enough attention to this incredible loading.

If it were under daylight, I think I would have noticed it...

I just don't understand why he didn't load his %$€&@§ plasterboard panel INSIDE his van... 🤦‍♂️

Hi,

After a 40mn detailing work, there's no scratch remaining but this very thin one (few mm above the edge, in the light reflect) :

IMG-1266.avif

I think, this story ends quite well, fortunately.

I looked at it in daylight. The scratch can be seen a little, but since the edges of the scratch are softened, it doesn't catch the light very well, you have to look for it. I could soften it even more, but that would also mean reducing the varnish thickness. I fear going too far, especially since there's a bordywork edge close to it, and I don't like the risk of going all through the varnish layer there.

Considering where I started from, the result seems more than acceptable 🙂.

Hi,

60,000km service today:

- Engine oil + oil filter change

- Air filter replacement

- Cabin filter replacement

- Replacement of the 3 wipers (all Bosch Aerotwins --> I hope I won't have any squeaks on the tailgate one 🤞😁)

Additionally, since it's no longer under warranty, I did the job myself.

But I had a few surprises! The TDI200 has some specific points compared to the TD150 and TDI190.

1) The undertray under the engine is not fixed the same way. Indeed, there are 7 M7 Hex-screws holding it in place, 2 of them had damaged threads 😐. Shall I say maintenance operations were all made by Skoda dealers since new 🙄?

Hence, I had to use a tap and die to temporarily restore the tightness efficiency. It easily took me 1h because of the poor access. In the end... I bought 4 new bolts 😁!

The undertray is noticeably stiffer than on any other VAG cars I've owned before. Does the undertray also act as a stone guard? ...

2) There's now an external pump (coolant pump?) in front of the oil filter, which reduce the access to the filter housing. You have to unscrew a tab to access it. The socket for the oil filter housing is no longer 32mm, but 24mm.

I'll make tutorials later for TDI200 owners.

Brake fluid change coming soon too. 😉

Bought a full set of Brembo discs and pads from Euro Car Parts as the discount offer was significant.

Filters are reasonable too. I can manage air and cabin filters in a few minutes 😀

I’ll ask the independent nearby to fit it all, along with an oil change when he carries out first MOT in next few weeks.

Hi,

Coming from the Superb MK3 forum, I noticed this kind of thread is missing here.

Thus I propose to correct this.

Well, today I started tuning my new to me Kodiaq (MY2022):

  • Door hinge covers installed

  • Door hook covers installed

  • Luggage cover handle upgraded with an Audi one (includes a spring-loaded flap to fill the hole and hide the boot content).

  • 2nd Kessy key upgraded with chrome parts (3rd one will remain full plastic).

Other mods should come soon.

Feel free to share what you've done too. 🙂

Do you have source or part number for the Audi luggage flap. I’ve seen them on Audis but can’t find them anywhere to buy.

Hi,

I had bought an Audi Q3 Mk1 luggage flap. P/N is 8D9862565 (color code is 4PK for a black one).

I know this can exist for different Audi models (just ask the dealer to change the first three characters of the P/N). It's really worth asking for a quotation on 3-4 models (A4, A6, Q5, Q7, in addition to Q3?) because prices can vary from simple to triple!

I bought mine for my ex Superb Estate Mk3 roughly 7-8 years ago. I think it was around €35.

Hi,

Change brake fluid today. Nothing difficult.

All went fine. Test drive was OK.

it costed me only €22,8 for 1.5l of brake fluid.

Happy Kodiaq owner :)

Fully loaded for the return trip from the annual pilgrimage to Centre Parcs.

Starting to get at the limit of capacity with 4 rapidly growing children.

Seriously looking at upgrading to a van. I’ve got my eye on a lovely AMG V class but I need to convince the wife!

MOT day. 2023 car is clean as a whistle. Made sure the wiper blades and all lights were good. 3rd row seat belts all in place. GPS sucker removed from screen.

Sailed through.

I had decided to treat the car to new discs and pads - at 3 years old and 29K+ miles - as I will be keeping it another year and I might as well enjoy the benefit.

Brakes often get a fail or recommendation from MOT guys.

Great bargain at Euro Car Parts (ECP) for Brembo discs and pads. -30% from the "basket price".

However - My Man in the nearby service / MOT shop called to say the discs are the wrong ones. Shiiite!

He acquired and fitted the right size parts. Not Brembo.

My slip up was not noticing that the ECP online catalogue showed more than 1 disc and pad for My Car after entering my registration and 2.0L Petrol popping up.

I'd noticed a range of manufacturers names for both discs and pads so I chose Brembo as I've enjoyed them in the past on 2 wheels and 4.

I hadn't dug deeper to double check the dimensions.

ECP happily accepted a RETURN of all the parts and apologised for a Mickey Mouse system that fails to filter down to the exact requirements via the registration number. My lesson learned.

Roll on 2027.

ps - My Man's brake parts were significantly more expensive than my Brembo deal from ECP.

New discs ands pads after only 29000 miles sounds a bit early to me.

What kind of usage doo you have? Just curious to understand. 🙂

Fitted floor ac vent covers to try to prevent kids mess and items being lost into the ac ducts.

Perfect fit and they are held in by a tight fit between the vent and the carpet.

Custom made headrest covers (my own fair work) using a cheap sleep blanket and a local haberdashers doing the custom embroidery to compliment the custom logo'd, seat covers.20260317_175007.jpg

Hi,

Were fed up with the original seat covers? Or did you want to protect them against UVs, stains o whatever?

Hello Bap33,

Just basic protection for the original seat fabric, I had been looking at supposedly custom fit seat covers but nothing impressed me.

I aquired six sleep blankets free of charge a while ago and it later occurred to me that I could use them as seat covers.

Just to make them a bit more 'stand out' I had them embroidered as shown by a local haberdashers (supporting small local businesses) and used 19mm plastic eyelets to accommodate the headrest bars.

They are not obviously waterproof but, good enough for what I want.

The headrests (purposely in a darker grey for contrast) were created from a purchased sleep blanket and templates of the headrests cut out of the blanket.

Three pieces made up the headrest covers - two sides connected by elastic and one piece to wrap around the headrest.

Again, custom embroidery carried out by the same local haberdashers.

I used left over fabric to make a cover for the centre armrest - so far not embroidered.

Hi,

I tried to install a memory module to store the Stop & Start system (de)activation state after each engine shut down.

But it seems what I've bought (from Ali) is just crap. I gambled, and I lost. The S&S is always ON at each start. Maybe I'll open a claim to get a new own or just throw it into the bin...

Not decided yet...🤔

It’s worth contacting the seller. I’ve seen on some pages that two wires in one of the plugs need swapping for certain vehicles.

With mine (superb mk3) it takes about 5 seconds for it to deactivate.

Back to summer wheels this afternoon. My 'blue bear' has recovered its sporty look, with the Kodiaq RS style rims. 🙂

Had it cleaned inside and out ahead of major inspection service at local independent garage this week.

I forgot how nice the black magic pearl is in the sunshine when it’s clean. It doesn’t stay that way for long. Also rediscovered the wheels are silver!

It needs pads and discs all round so not going to be a cheap one. But as it’s the family bus I thought I would just get them to do it all at once to save time.

Downloaded all the workshop manuals from Erwin this evening as I’m seriously considering starting to do all the servicing myself.

40,000 mile service today including brake fluid and spark plugs.

Also new brake discs and pads at all four corners using Pagid parts.

Done at the nearby independent garage. Very reasonable labour rate of £60/hr and all in 5 hours charged.

Parts are comparable price to euro car parts discount price but with the vat then added on so parts about 20% mark up.

All in an eye watering £980 inc vat but prices seem very reasonable considering the brake down of costs.
