I have reserved a Skoda Superb iV (2021) but while the dealer (Vertu Skoda Darlington) claims both the 1 year approved used warranty and the 3 year extended warranty he is offering (for £699) will apply despite the DSG service not being done at 40k miles. The car is at 44k now and dealer said they would do DSG service and spark plugs.

I wanted to use the all in plan but it clearly states the car must be serviced as specified.
Dealer claims the warranty he is offering does not depend on servicing.

Does anyone know if this is correct or is the dealer just trying to make the sale and hope nothing goes wrong?

If you tried claiming on an extended Warranty you bought and you had not Serviced the DQ400-e DSG of a 1.4 TSI PHEV they would say you voided the warranty. 40,000 miles.

Dealerships do these Approved Used Cars with Warranties yet cars not Serviced to the Manufacturers Recommendations, Guidelines or Schedule / Specifictions.

Chancers.

Was the car on a Fixed Service Regime for Oil & Filters and done each 9,400 miles / 372 days?

Is on the variable service regime, though it hasn't gone too long between services:
14/06/22 8,393
03/05/23 18,522
24/01/24 31,786
13/11/24 39,108 (interval service, what ever that means)
and serviced now at 44k.

So the extended warranty is actually Motor Assured (a Vertu Motors scheme, not Skoda), so possibly it is more lenient. It also states "You must ensure that Your Vehicle is serviced in line with

the recommendations of the Vehicle manufacture." though it is not clear if that is after the policy starts or applies from day 1.

I was also told the PHEV battery warranty is transferable, but I have read otherwise https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/148825d2-9edf-4ab3-b9e3-243bc38d8357

Whilst the car looks great and the Motor Assured warranty might be better than Skoda's, I don't think the battery would be covered.

I doubt anything would go wrong but these are expensive components so doesn't feel worth it unfortunately.

Agree 100% 👍

Skoda dealer not offering a Skoda warranty on an ‘Approved’ car. And then trying to say ‘Yeah, but this warranty’s better’ (until you need to make a claim). Nice try, but it’d be a no thanks from me.

Ask for the dealer to confirm it in writing that the lack of a DSG service at the correct time will not affect any claims going forward and see what reaction you get. If they decline to do so that will show what they are up to.

For reference we got our Kodiaq from Vertu (Bristol Street Motors as was) in Chesterfield and their after sales service with regards to a water leak into the boot was useless, showing little knowledge of the vehicle so I ended up fixing it myself.

As @skomaz says, get it in writing, explicitly and pedantically.

TBH, it sounds like you're not entirely happy, so if you're getting a whiff of doubt now, I'd listen to your gut feeling on the decision.

If they (Vertu) are selling you both the vehicle AND the warranty, then them using the excuse that the prior servicing was not up to scratch, to void any warranty work would not 'cut the mustard', as they say.

But yes, get it in writing too, just in case......

Also though, consider their own lead times for actually getting a broken down vehicle worked on???

Certainly make sure a courtesy / loan car is included and that there are no 'get out' clauses.

&look and see the maximum amount of any warranty claim. Worth a look at recent Harry's Garage Video about his Jaguar Warranty and annual service and maintenance and warranty work discovered. Thread in General Automotive chat Harry's Garage had video linked.
