Driving Score

Featured Replies

So any other Superb owners noticed the addition of Driving Score in the My Skoda APP?

Skoda tracking all aspects of your driving.

Only way to disable at the moment is to turn on privacy mode in the car which disables all online services that we pay for.

More information and contact details here https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/532053-driving-score-in-myskoda-app/

I believe it's per country based. It's not showing in my app. I saw this mentioned somewhere else before either here or r/Skoda.

Depends on your countries privacy regulations.

Oh yes. Interesting. Wonder what the implications are given there’s been little notice about it.

Discussion in Octavia fora suggests that most owners and software engineers consider this a breach of GDPR.

I'm no speed merchant. I tend to drive for smoothness and comfort.

Try and keep under prosecution level 78 in a 70 etc. Might stray just over in lower speed zones.

Here's my score.

I'm not happy that Skoda have and store this information.

Under GDPR Regulations you have the right to request copy of all the information they have. And to have it removed.

Yes you can and you can put the car in privacy mode to stop Skoda receiving further data.

Unfortunately that then prevents any use of the paid for online services.

True. But my understanding is you could request the removal of the information at any time. I do wonder will they or have they shared the information with anyone.

I understand where people are coming from but given how much of our lives are under constant scrutiny from our cars, CCTV, laptops & PC's, televisions, broadband etc etc (the list goes on and on) this is relatively minor.

Also bear in mind what else is being tracked whenever you open the Skoda app on your phone, I've just checked my phone which shows:

Looks like Skoda have removed Driving Score from the App and have removed reference to it on the web site.

Glad they saw sense but that’s a hell of a backpedal.

Of course, nothing to say they can’t collect the data anyway just without presenting it to the customer. Whilst I would prefer to seem so tin-harry, and it would be great to think there’s sufficient regulation to stop it, there’s been sufficient corporate scandals to prove regulations aren’t always effective.

App update blurb - no mention of removing it unsurprisingly.

Hi , I had a big brother system in my last car , Mercedes information shown to driver , average speed , average miles per gallon , miles per gallon , proper tyre monitoring system and to agree the list goes on.

However, the Mercedes Me was awful in that services I paid for continuity removed.

I still receive information from the car and the last transmission was that the coolant level was low !
