Ventilated seats working properly?

Featured Replies

I have a 2025 SEL Superb hatchback. I love the car but there's one thing I'm less keen on. This is my 3rd car now with ventilated seats and it's something I now look for - perfect on hot days. However, the ones in the Superb seem very weak. In previous cars I've been able to feel cooling on my back but in this it just seems to take the edge off the heat a bit. Is this just the case on these cars or is my faulty? I usually have the cooled seat on max but it's just not as powerful as I'm used to or would like

I've noticed in mine that the effect of the seat ventilation is quite subtle! I assume that's expected behaviour...

Ventilation is weak across all VAG cars.

I found exactly the same.

Took delivery of a brand new Superbe last weekend. Turned out the AC was not working at all, so I took it back to the dealership to have it fixed under warranty.

When I took it in, I also asked them to have look at the ventilated seats, as I did not notice any difference whether they are on or off, in low position or on full blast….

I genuinely thought they were not working (just like the AC), but maybe that is a feature rather than a bug…. Which would be disappointing

Car is still there as the air conditioning turned out to require a lot of diagnostics, they are yet to look at the seat ventilation. Curious what they’ll say…. I’ll let you know

That's really interesting. The ventilation must be working on mine as it does stop me getting a sweaty back, but I often don't feel it much, which is what I'm used to and would prefer. Air-con in mine works perfectly though.

I can't detect seat ventilation/air con. Car in workshop for warranty repair of non-working massage function in driver seat. Dealer has to contact Skoda for coding assistance...they think two are connected...?

I had s Mk3 Superb and now have a Mk4. The seat ventilation now is definately nowhere near a good as the previous car.

In the Mk3 I sometimes had to turn the control down from maximum (or even off!) if I felt a chill. Not this one, the control

remains on maximum and I still wish their was more.

Got my car back from the dealer after they fixed the leaky AC. They checked the seat ventilation and said everything is working fine. Now that the AC is working, I can definitely feel the seat ventilation when I switch it on - especially when I am wearing a shirt or t-shirt made of thin fabric. But it’s more subtle than I would have expected.

Car still in workshop 20 days later under warranty. They can't work out why ventilation and massage functions are not working. Skoda send them pages of diagnostic tests. More and more layers of the car are stripped back... Could go on for ever...

I also tested the seat ventilation at 40°C, with the car left in direct sunlight, and I can confirm that you can’t feel anything at all anymore.

When the outside temperature was around 30°C, it still had a somewhat decent effect, you could feel a weak but noticeable airflow. But now, in extreme heat, the effect completely disappears.

From what I understand, the seat ventilation in the Superb 4 is based solely on fans, without active cooling like some premium models have.

The air is drawn from the cabin, not from a separate or cooled circuit. So if the interior has been baking in the sun, there’s no cool air to pull in, at least not until the climate system starts cooling the cabin aggressively.

I also tried various seat and A/C settings, but the result was always the same, no noticeable improvement.

My car is often parked in direct sunlight all day and any tempreture above 25°C the seat ventalation isn't noticable until I have driven for at least 20 minutes and the air con has had chance to cool the cabin completely. Below 25°C or when the cabin gets to about 21°C it's great, but anything higher and I find it's useless.

I also thought mine wasn't working for the first few weeks, when I checked under the drivers seat I found one of the fans was hanging down on it's wires, just clipped it back on and suddenly the seat ventalation started to work as described above.

Like others I have tried all sorts of combinations and nothing seems to change it, I now have everything set to maximum to get the best results.

Dealer just rerurned mine about the driver seat massage partially working. They confirmed it's a known issue and a software update over the air is in the works. Should pop up in car recall menu once released.

Ventilation is indeed mediocre, we'll see if the update changes anything but I seriously doubt it.

Another seat massage function failure here. Driver's seat, with two of the 'pods' fully inflated and refusing to deflate, all controls non-responsive. Shut-down and re-start of the car doesn't help. Will be getting onto the local dealer for a warranty repair and a courtesy car if they haven't reset themselves by the morning.

I dont know if this still up, but I spotted a new menu option in the Seat settings section. Now you can customize the strenght of ventillation and heating, on the sitting and back surface too. In my car, everything was in the middle of the range.
