Steering angle sensor RHD. Fabia 1.2 HTP 2003.

Featured Replies

My friend's car has been stuck at his local garage for weeks because they say they can't source a steering angle sensor for RHD. What is the correct part number and where can he get one? Thanks.

Need Reg or VIN to be certain of PN.

Reg. number is DX03JVF. There are plenty listed on Ebay with the part no. 6Q1423291 but a Skoda Swindon told him that is for LHD and that he needs 6q242329a and his garage told him he needs 626Q242329AX. There are also sensors listed on Ebay as 6Q0423445, but they don't come with the lead and plug.

Well the 6Q1 parts are LHD, and as such the cable isn't likely to reach. There may also be an issue with handedness of fitment and function.

The correct part number is indeed 6Q2423291A(X). The only difference between with and without the X is that presence of X indicates an exchange part, where a deposit is taken and refunded when the old part is returned.

The suffix A part was dropped way back in late 2006, the -AX in 2021.

Secondhand from scrappies or cars being broken on ebay is only hope really.

May be worth trying a 6Q1 with a DIY cable extension, if it appears to be possible to fit it in the rack, by careful comparison of images of 6Q1 and 6Q2 versions, not sure. I can offer help with cable extension work if you/he fancies gambling, and want help. Not sure if it's anything slightly fancy like a screened cable or just a three core 'vanilla' thing.

Thanks for all that! You'll see that I've posted again to try and get at a solution. My Fabia 2 uses a sensor that you can unplug the cable from, but the early ones don't. I daresay the later sensor would work on the Fabia 1, if the cable was also available from a Fabia 2.
