Mk 3 2.0 DSG Estate well impressed

Featured Replies

Well I'm impressed we've had our 2022 Superb 2.0 DSG Estate for about 4 weeks, we went out for breakfast on Saturday. We live in the north east of England, the cafe was The Ace Cafe in Wimbledon, London (it's the sort of thing we do we had a nice day out).

The reason I'm impressed is that on the way back I achieved 74 mpg, which gave me a tank range of over 1000 miles, our house to La Rascasse in Monaco.

I did have a little tickle of the throttle nearer home hence the reduced figures in the photo.

I really like having a decent sized tank, officially 66 litres (I think, or thereabouts), on this occasion I squeezed just over the 1000 miles and if memory serves correct it took 71 litres to fill it.

Me too, I just drove from Switzerland to Warrington (1300km) on one tank in my 2l DSG 200PS.

considering 2/3 of the journey was on the French highway at around 130kph I was extremely impressed.

It was always a small gripe with my previous Octavia that the tank was on the small side.

Can't fault the superb for long journeys.

Cavernous boot space and great for cruising.

I've driven from the UK to Klaipėda, Lithuania and I needed just one stop for petrol in Poznan, Poland and I've still got about 200 miles of fuel left. I hope I can do the same in a couple of weeks when we return home.

It's a bit different to the first time I took my car abroad in 1971. I had a Mini with a 5½ gallon fuel tank and you'd get about 40 mpg if you were lucky, so I had to fill up every 200 miles or less if there weren't many filling stations!
