I've had my '05 Fabia vRS nearly 4 months and swore I would keep it standard. Then I saw aero wipers, philips clear vision bulbs & german style plates.....

I need some help I can't decide whether to leave the car alone apart from getting a Jabba ARB or whether to change the alloys, do the suspension etc.

What do you think??

im in the same dilemma myself mate, mines red and want black wheels, but i dont know whether to just get standard painted or get new ones, i think instead of styling it you might want to get it tuned up. re-map so you will need brakes and clutch upgrading so thats a small fortune to start

how much would it cost at a garage to fit an ARB?

  • If you want to keep your wallet happy leave it standard.
  • If you want to smile more everytime you drive/look at it - modify

there is a group buy going at the mo for the Jabba ARB , they can either supply it to you to fit (not to difficult ,guide on VRStu website) or you go to them for it to be fitted ,pretty cheap to fit iirc, then you can get it remapped there aswell:D

if you want warranty , keep it standard , but if you want more fun , modify it

Get just a remap for the time being. That's the only mod you'll never regret.

Modify it and give it your personal touch.

Or get a tuning box for warranty and smiles

Stand out from the crowd .... keep it standard ;)

Chris

Wheres the third option ??

I wanted to keep mine standard when I first got it, but it never happened. I blame Briskoda  In some ways I regret it, due to a recent problem at the dealers and the fact that the car's trim rattles- which must be down to the springs that went on making the ride a bit firmer.

But I prefer to drive around in a non-standard looking car.

Having had problems with dealers in the past I'm going to be keeping mine standard. It's a personal choice, but I'd rather not risk warranty problems.

depends on how much you want to spend. I'd go for maybe a suspension set up and ARB first rather than added more power. But my car is standard so I guess I know nout.

The cost of modifying can be expensive. But as soon as you drive it you forget the cost............

We do the Tunit box.

This is a didgital tuning box.

It will take the 130PD engine to 155 in a few mins.

It is easily removed in mins and there is no trace at all.

I want one for my car but I have to be good for a while , so it is out just now.

But these are a great piece of kit.

Ha Ha

Sorry never thought about that ;)

Cheap suggestions.

- front mudflaps.

- Rear mudflaps.

- De-side-stripe it.

- Boot net kit.

- Chrome mirror covers, door handles etc.

- Consider painting the interior trim (gearstick surround etc.).

If you have not got a black car

- The black or CF look B pillar covers.

- Colour code side stripes if not removed.

Not so cheap.

- Eibach springs.

- Jabba ARB.

- Tuning box.

- Jabbasport generic remap.

Not cheap.

- Eibach spring and dampers.

- Or coilovers.

- Custom remap.

In my opinion the suspension is the most important mod if you want to live.

More power without better handling is just risking too much. Better brakes is not the way to go initially as inevitably you will enter a corner faster than the standard car could. Its too late then for bigger brakes. So now you are relying on the suspension to keep you on the road and wishing you had upgraded it as you head towards that large oak tree/lamp-post/bus-stop with children etc etc.

Its amazing what huge improvements in handling can be achieved with simple cheap mods e.g. ARB or different shocks or poly-bushes.

I've played around with many modified cars over the years (inc. mini 1275GT, Marina, MG metro, XR2, Opel GTE, 205, Defender, Discoverys) and improved the suspension in all of them with little cost (and yes I am really old).:D

Someone once said "power is nothing without control"
