116ps Automatic pulling power

Featured Replies

Hi all. Looking to buy a brand new Kamiq (or poss Arona).

I live in rural Wales which can be very hilly. Now I often have to go to a wholesaler and am often quite Laden with food and cans of drinks and two of us in the car.

Question, would the 116ps engine have enough poke to cope on the hills and still have a bit in reserves to overtake,? Or do I need the 150ps engine?

I currently have a Karoq but don't have the budget for one of them

mAny thanks Woody

Incorrect figure

There's a significant difference in torque and power between the 2 engines, if funds allow I'd go for the 1.5

Another vote for the 1.5 150 PS, seems a strong engine to me.

Had an Arona for 7 years with the 1.0 tsi 115 DSG

It was surprisingly nippy, and in everyday use, great rather than merely adequate. You won't have any problems going up hills even with it loaded. However if you want to overtake going up a hill loaded then probably better off with 1.5

Note the 1.0tsi DSG seems to have had power outputs between 110 and 116 ps over last 8 years, so check carefully which version you get. Manual versions can be as low as 95ps in some models

Thank you all very much.

Totally unexpectedly I have actually just purchased (via Motability) a Peugeot 3008 GT (sorry forgive me swearing, lol)

It was too good an offer to miss and actually the size is better for us.

So I'll still keep my Fabia!

One in five new cars is now paid for by the taxpayer, bought through Motability. Literally unbelievable.

Thank you, I know how it works. The numbers are staggering. Either we are a VERY sick nation or we are overly generous and tens of thousands know how to game the system. No wonder the country has no money.

The Billions that Motability held in the Funds and which went to the Major Banks to support them in 2008 is staggering.

The Managements wages that is paid @ Motability is Staggereing.

How the Registrations then vehicles at 3 years going into the UK motor trade is stagering.

?

So how many Billions of the PIP etc are paid to people that does not go towards vehicles buying or mobility needs of people.

There is no Means Testing of the money paid out to those that qualifies.

Many thousands will be using the money fueling vehicles they buy or own & not leasing from Mobility.

Getting their VED exemption on cars, so no need to be concerned about LEZ / ULEZ as the vehicle classed Disabled.

Further, perhaps do research on the average extra costs many disabled people have over ordinary folk, which is acknowledged to be fairly substantial.

The payments to not cover those costs in most instances.

Additionally a large percentage of people use that money to buy and maintain their mobility scooters and wheelchairs

I get the higher rate on personal care on ADP, and the lowerrate of motability so I don't qualify for a car. Not that I would take it at the moment anyway. I can hardly walk to the end of the street and I live in number 3 so without measuring it would be about 20 meters max. I'm 62 and have been like this for 17 years. I would rather have my health back and be able to still be working and be providing for myself than having to put up with constant severe pain physically that nothing can be done about. My condition cost me my marriage and worse my selfrespect

having to ask for help for everything. Yet I am lucky because I own my home, don't drink or smoke so I can afford to own my own car. Having done the sums often I am better having my karoq dsgwhich is 7 years old and absolutely perfect for me than spending a few grand to get a pos corsa or the likes that would not suit me. I would swap positions with anyone who has their health and happily pay my taxes, as I did before I became unfit. And I hate the word "benefits" to describe what I relieve. I paid national insurance and now am claiming off that insurance. Benefits to me insinuates that I'm a lazy git that never worked a day in my life and I've got everything for nothing.

My reply to @skoda998 has been removed by a Mod. It was between their posts.

Not sure what i posted was not factually correct.

I have leased and bought using HP 14 cars from Motability since 1977.

Never given one for FREE, always paying over the FREE MONEY i get which for quite few years i never got, or got back dated after appeals.

There are a lot of people that really have not a clue about just how much money is paid to millions of people.

Like those getting £227 a week in Pension Credit because they never built up enough to get a UK State Pension.

Actually I'm 62 (nearly 63) and funnily enough I also currently have Karoq dsg which is 6.5 years old, lol. Fantastic cars, but with a whine from the gearbox (expensive!!!) and one or two other issues, I cant afford to take the gamble with the amount of travelling I will be doing. But being 62, disabled, technically self employed in a rented house I havn't got a hope in hell of getting a loan to buy a newer car

I was lucky when I bought the Karoq. I sold my previous yetiformore than I had paid for it, I only had to find 6 grand to put along with it for the Karoq. I had 4 grand saved up which was going to be a new shower room and won 5 grand one raffle so bought theeKaroq with no loan. In the 2 and a half years since I've managed to get enough so my new shower room is now fitted too. The karoq has only cost me twice in the region of £250 for a service and mot and two tyres. If that continues for another three years or so I may be able to get a newer car then.
