aircon , how cold is yours?

Featured Replies

my aircon didn't feel as cold as i remember it was last year , so got it checked out at work , only 350 grams of gas in the system , should have 550+/- 25g , had the missing gas replaced ,now seems a lot better , but i suppose because its so hot outside any aircon system is going to struggle to get the car cold inside , so how cold is everybody elses aircon ?

Uncomfortably cold

Chris

It should ideally get down to around 5-6 degrees inside with re circ on and on face vents.

However specs for the systems are it limited depending on outside temperature. As ambient air is warmer the a/c system will have less effect. Most car a/c systems will struggle to lower the temp by more that 20 degrees or so. Some are better than others.

one way to help is to use the air recirculator, this means the aircon will then be cooling the cooler interior air, rather than the hotter outside air... this makes a BIG difference in just a few minutes! try it ;)

f-in cold :D

Enough to see my breath:orb_cold:

Brrrrrrrrrrrr

I don't think its as icy cold as last year, but outside temps are hotter, so that's probably it.

i doubt any air con gets the temp to about 5 or 6 degrees??? any one got a internal temp gauge?

i'd say about 18 degrees c is achievable. yes maybe bout 10 degrees when it comes out of vents, because it's flowing cool air, it adds a wind chill affect.

my fabia is only 3 month old. the air con is great and cools down well. takes bout 5 mins to get really cold air coming out of the vents.

anyone prefer windows down to cool the car? except on days like today 33 degrees on temp gauge! air con was useful.

Enough that I now have to lift the seatbelt over my nipples when I get out ;)

mine only drops down to approx. 19.375 degrees and has a leak on the system. getting sorted soon though :)

i have that very same problem......

Mine gets uncomfortably cold in the mornings, but on the way home in 33c this afternoon I could have done with more cooling. It cool but not cool enough!

Hi

Mine gets pretty cold, vent temp well below 10 today without recircualtion. Cold enough to make arms and feet ache if not carefully distributed. Dont know what the Skoda spec is, but Toyota reckon 4 - 7 deg depending on outside temp and fan speed.

On the down side, puming all that heat out got my car to a record low fuel consumption for a days work today at 34.7 mpg. Better than sweating though.

Last time I drove around with the recirc button on my windscreen misted up and i couldnt see the country lane I was driving down at 60. Scared the life out of me as it just suddenly happened in an instant.

mine currently blows cool and then hot...........me thinks it's not working :(

Seems to have an equal and opposite reaction on other parts of the body (Men Only)

I do aircon on, with rear windows fully down and front windows down an inch or so to stop ear drums vibrating !! Works really well....

But read the warning on page 99 of the Fabia Owner's Manual about doing this. Like thegavsters, I have had the windows mist up completely without any warning. Scary! :(

Mine seems variable, I had a 200 mile trip mid day yesterday. Within 20 mins I had to move my left hand as my knuckles went cold. About to turn it off when it seemed to pack up altogether. Turned the engine off at a junction, restarted and the cooling came back. I get this with the cruise control as well... It packs up and wont come on at all until I restart the engine. Dealer only says "no fault recorded". I asked for the refrigerant pressure to be checked but they don't have the means. I will have to phone round.

You mean it'll be even colder if I use recirc?! Not sure I could handle that

Chris

Cant fault mine in the Octavia. Very very effective.

I get condensation on the chrome door bits it's that cold.

Mine's been cold on my hands if the vents blow directly on them but the rest of my body still gets warm. In general, the sun shining through the windows seems to counteract the aircon in the front. The annoying part is that while I'm still feeling warm in the front, rear seat passengers complain of the cold. I've never thought to try recirculating the air though; will give that a go.

I've only ever had the misting when it's started to rain outside....... edit: ( the misting is due to it recirculating your breath ect, and the moisture content yes?)

the way I use it is without recirculator, until it becomes a bit warm, then just use the recirculator enough to cool it right back down, then click it off again! (don't want to suffocate!) seems to work well
