1.6 tdi dsg clicking noise

Featured Replies

hi. So my new to me 2018 Karoq went back to the dealer the other day for a sporadic noise I was hearing on the front left side. Garage have been brilliant and the onsite mechanic had it up on the lift and found swarf in the gearbox oil. He reckons it’s the differential. There was a fair bit of play on the driveshaft (gearbox end) it’s going off next week for a gearbox rebuild. Been told it’s still ok to drive until next week (is it?). The car seems to drive perfect aside from this noise now and again. It’s sort of like a clicking noise and can be heard more turning right, it’s very sporadic and can’t always be heard. I think the garage said the gearbox place have quoted about £1500 including £450 to remove and re fit the gearbox.

I suppose my question is, is this unheard of? Searched around and seen a couple of times it’s been posted. And does the cost sound about right? Obviously no cost to me as it’s still in warranty from the seller.

Cheers.
