Challenges with my Skoda Fabia Estate from august 2016

Featured Replies

Lately various things have happened with the monitoring systems in the car.

A couple of days ago a message appeared about pressure loss in a tyre. There was no sign of a flat tyreso I drove to a service station and checked all four tyres and reset the monitor. I've driven around 100 km without any new message.

Since May 5, 2025, i have had to top up the coolant 4 times because the monitor for that has reported a low coolant level.

I have spoken with a mechanic at my usual repair shop and he said: "Just top up when needed."

Yesterday the dashboard display told me the battery was low in my key fob.

This makes me wonder if the battery is really low or if this is a system fault.

Has anybody had similar experience?

Any advice would be appreciated.

We've had the car since august 2016 and driven just over 150,000 kilometers.

Best regards from Denmark,

Eric

Tyres need checked occasionally and the TPMS reset, so that is normal.

Batteries do have a life and need replaced occasionally, so normal there.

Loosing coolant is an issue, the leak needs finding. & fixed.

If the TPMS false alarms persist, especially if together with traction control indications and on the same wheel, have the ABS sensors checked.

Was the coolant actually low? If so, how much appeared to have been lost?

TPMS warnings are not only when a tyres pressure / circumference is less than when set.

If a wheel centre was getting hot because of a binding brake caliper or bearing going the tyre can inflate more and you get a warning. If you only check pressures once cooled down you will not know why you had a warning.

Yes, the coolant was below the minumum line on the reservoir.

So far, I have added 2 litres of coolant since May 5th, roughly half a litre each time

Now, the car will spend some time with my dealer's mechanics this coming week to try to locate the leak.

The pressure change warning has not reappeared, nor has the low battery warning for the key fob.

But the mechanic will get to check those things as well.

Best regards,

Eric
