Smic

Featured Replies

Throughout the forum, I have seen countless threads on changing from a SMIC to a FMIC. Has anyone uprated the SMIC and if so where there similar improvements to a FMIC?

he hasn't uprated his SMIC but infact replaced it with a FMIC like many others so isn't quite what he's asking for.

i believe one person has fitted the twin SMIC setup from a TT/S3/LCR but to me this seem like a waste as the time and money involved probably isn't much different.

i don't think anyone has uprated the standard SMIC and kept the stock location.

IMHO if you're going to spend a lot of energy/money improving it you may as well go the FMIC route. It's easier to fit, probably costs less, less tubing etc involved.

Something like this can only help:

Thanks a lot guys. I will be venting my SMIC this weekend

what does this venting do? and what does smic and fmic mean ? sorry a vrs virgin ere

SMIC = side mounted intercooler

FMIC = front mounted intercooler

The idea behind the vent is to aloow the hot air around the side mounted intercooler to escape. This should result in cooler intake temps.
