Octavia MK3 Smartlink Activation

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I have a MK3 2017 Octavia which displays the bring to dealer notification when I click the Smartlink option. I did speak with a dealer who confirmed CarPlay could be activated but that it would cost €390.

From some googling I am getting lots of conflicting advice if it is or isn’t possible to activate via an either a sd card, obd Ethernet cable, green engineering menu or not at all. I can’t seem to find a step by step guide to follow all the way through.

I have just the one sd card slot in the glove box.

I believe it might be the Bolero system. My train number is MST2_EU_SK_ ZR_P0359T.

So wise BRISKODA forum, is it possible to do diy or an aftermarket person? Or do I need to pay the dealer the cash?

I used vision coding.co.uk - also got the wireless adapter for the USB port. In total about £90. Works flawlessly. Mk3 Octavia 2016.

I spoke with them, unfortunately they don’t work with systems which just have one sd card slot in the glovebox. Do you have 1 or 2?

Super, is it difficult, could you point me in the direction of a guide?

Hi @pab567 , any tips or advice on helping me get this sorted?

Buy mib2 Navi Low, Patch it Coding and have fun

@EvilBono you must have SMS soldering skills, QNX knowledge and either UART or EMMC-SPI. This will allow you to load MIB STD2 Toolbox into your unit that you can later use to activate new features like SmartLink and othe FEC/SWaP activated features.

Thanks for that detailed response @pab567 , soldering is definitely a step too far for me!

That it requires soldering means I should also stop looking at someone doing it remotely for me! Appreciate it.

Would swapping my single sd card unit in the glove box for a double one mean I could use a sd card patch to activate it? Or would the display unit also need to be changed?

Yes, remote rework for single SD units is not possible.

Another yes - swapping single sd card MIB2 unit in the glove box for a double SD card MIB2 unit means you could use a sd card patch to activate it. No need for the display unit to be changed.

Is swapping from one to two sd unit a straight plug and play? Or would additional actions be needed?

It's never Plug&Play. New unit must be reworked - patch must be applied for Component Protection and activations, unit must have coding and adaptations adjusted to match car's equipment.

Last set of questions and then I’ll leave you in peace! I promise.

How complicated is all of that? Are there any straightforward guides you can point me in the direction of?
