How to secure a wheelchair!?

Featured Replies

Hello, I’m trying to find a way to fit my child’s wheelchair into the boot to one side, we have the 2024 7 seater kodiaq (3rd row down), it doesn’t have the same hooks or tether points the previous kodiaq had and I’m stumped.

Has anyone managed to do this? Currently it’s laying down but it’s proving difficult with a dog in the boot, plus everything that comes along with having children. Any ideas and/or photos would be amazing. Thanks

Is it a rigid or foldable chair?

I have a rigid and I secure it on the right hand side with the wheels and cushion off, using a bungee cord.

I’ll take a couple of pics in the morning for you

I take the wheels off my daughters and secure them either side... But that's in a Mk1 so not sure if you could do the same in a mk2.

Hiya, thank you for your reply. We used to do it like this but no longer can due to the lack of that bar and hooks.

I’m not sure what you mean, it’s a rigid wheelchair but we can fold it. It’s not huge as it’s my child’s but need to get so much in there and I’m currently having the lay it down which isn’t ideal sliding around. Thank you a photo would be great please?

In that case I'd buy some automotive lashing rings or grab handles and screw them into the rigid trim in the boot to allow me to tie things securely to them. I have some aftermarket 'mushrooms' in my Suzuki that are similar and came with a cargo net and they are more than sturdy enough to do the job.

I’ll take a look at those, we do have a pack of cargo nets that I haven’t thought about trying, we’ve never actually opened them so maybe they could help!? Thanks

One of the big plus points with my old Pug 5008, plenty of 'D' ring points to secure the Peugeot supplied cargo netting.

I bought two extra to complete the load security also, using the middle row headrest supports/poles as anchorpoints- jobs a Good un !

Apologies my friend, but the weather has been shocking round here for the last few days.

Pics as promised.

i use a loop of frame under the 2nd Roy of seats for the bottom hook and the net hook for the top.

There is another solution I’ve just thought about. Could you swap the large hook into the other position with the cover over it?
