So you've just bought a Yeti

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, 1st time Skoda owner here.

Picking up a 2.0tdi 170 4wd L&K on the 28th Nov

One previous lady owner from new.

72,000 miles

Full Skoda service history

Michelin Primacy's all round so I'm hoping for a good'un.

What do I do first?

DPF? EGR? sunroof drain hole clean? re-map?

It's a second/daily car but I really want it to live up to the 'cult' feeling, like a Panda 4x4 had/has...

So what can I do in the first few weeks, the easy DIY stuff, or even the relatively inexpensive purchases to make it 'more'.

cheers

Andy

Sunroof checks. Everything else can wait 😀

Welcome to the forum. The first thing to do is ..... enjoy it! Mine is twelve years old with close to 100,000 on the clock. I bought it new, never regretted it and my experience, and it seems to be the experience of most of the forum members present and past, that they are well built and reliable motors.

..keep an eye on the sunroof, there are 2 types of sunroof owners, those that have had a leak, and those that are going to have a leak!!

I was the former, and ended up getting a local indy to check and then "glue" all the drain pipes in place....

Otherwise a great car, and much missed!!

I would suggest checking out the battery health would be a good idea for the first task. If it’s still the original, then consider replacing especially as colder weather is a killer for old batteries. My Yeti exhibited all sorts of odd electrical behaviour in the weeks running up to battery going altogether.

Is the Full Service History a history of Servicing to manufacturers guidelines, recommendations, schedule or specification? Has the Haldex been serviced at least twice, and just as Main Dealers do it, or done correctly and not just the oil changed?

A sunroof service/lubrication, check the drain holes all round, Haldex service,. DSG gearbox? If so then service it. The water pump and drive belt also need replacing as preventative maintenance if they haven't been done already in its life.
