Led bulbs

Featured Replies

Just put some led dipped beam in now I'm getting check left side bulb message anyone had this

I think this is one of those systems that relies on the voltage/resistance as a benchmark as to whether the bulb has blown.

LEDs draw so little current that the car thinks the bulb has blown. They do LED bulbs with resistor packs on to fool the car in thinking the bulb is a filament bulb.

Which version did you put in?

Thay are supposed to be can bus one and only the left side gives an error

I believe you can change the setting in obd to led.

I replaced the D3S xenon bulbs with D3S LEDs about 1.5 yrs ago - no issues, no errors, no coding needed.

Mine is MY17.

Have you noticed any difference in the light spread / intensity/ distance with leds compared to the xenon?

Was this a worthwhile upgrade for you ?

Previously (6 yrs ago) I had replaced the factory xenons with Phillips xTremeVision Gen 2 - it was much brighter & better.

Top - Factory

Bottom - xTremeVision Gen 2

The switch to LED bulbs was better & brighter again.

Video of it now.....

It looks about 25% Brighter / Crisper.

I was getting confused looking at the left of the images. We should concentrate on the bricks to the right.

@JR RS hello, does it worth to go with d3s led instead of OEM osram xenon? My bulbs still work but they are from 2018, recently looking for new bulbs but which way to to...

Any good brand for d3s led? Can get AMIO led bulbs in local shop but dunno yet 🤣

in my opinion - definitely worth it.

my previous xenon Phillips xTremeVision Gen2 bulbs were still good, but they were nearing 6 yrs of use, so i decided to refresh them with LEDs.

with LEDs, they get quite hot, hence make sure u get one with a heatsink AND fan.
But the fan has to b slim enough so u can refit the headlight cover at the back.

if the fan and/heatsink is too bulky, then u won't b able to refit the cover at the back, which will allow dirt n water to get inside the headlight, potentially damaging the internal electrics and motors.

@JR RS thanks buddy! Xenon should make more heat then leds however or leds in this way make more heat cuz they supply via xenon balast? Don't want to burn the car 😁

Consider to get this one

Be careful with putting leds in, will void insurance and could get pulled over.

Apparently they’re cracking down on retrofits because of “dazzling”

using the correct LEDs in correctly aimed headlights will not cause any dazzling, nor attract any unwanted attention from Police.

p.s. - i'm not saying its "legal"

In the U.K., they’re not and an MOT failure.

Just as a light-source in an OE headlight/light? That’s a shame.

I know the whole thing of putting them in halogen-style headlight clusters caused dazzling.

Like this - sticking Xenon or LEDs in Halogen clusters is a fail. The whole web page just talks about this but doesn’t address putting an LED bulb in an existing Xenon headlight unit

There’s that but still there’s no E marked ones available that I’m aware of

Annoying as I’d love them

Yeah it makes sense. Ironically it went on to state that there is no provision in the MOT manual for any external LED bulbs but agree that I'd happily replace with them too

For anyone still looking for some good leds, there's sinoparcel d3s on amazon. They happen to match the led drl strip pretty well and they were £45 2 years ago when i put them in my superb. Smart light assist works just as well in cutting out the beam for the cars ahead, no beam pattern issues and passed every mot

Just realised FL full matrix are LED so this is not a bridge I need to die on
