Mooing brakes fixed

Featured Replies

Since getting my 2005 mk1 VRs I've had the "mooing" brakes problem. It was bad and loud - also in my opinion dangerous as when it occured it was so loud and violent I took my foot off the brake as a reflex!

After waiting around for far too long my local skoda (Williams, bristol) called me and said they had a fix from Skoda ..

Just got it done today .. all I can say is "f**king excellent" i'm getting no noise now whatsoever from the brakes. it was particularly bad when reversing on an incline - but is now completely silent.

If anyone else has this problem then go and get the mod done..

And the mod is?

haven't found out yet - service dept was closed by the time i picked it up .. all i know it's the one skoda have been testing..

And the mod is?

I got a phone call from Skoda Customer Services telling me that a new fix had been authorised for the mooing problem. Can't remember what it is, he phoned me at work at a bad time.

When I get round to booking it in to the garage, will post up whats been done.

I had mine done a couple of weeks ago. it involved them modifying the brakes by adding 'counter balance weights' was how the garage described it. I have noticed a slight squeal from the brakes during normal driving now but no mooing whilst reversing so pretty pleased with the mod. I have the part numbers written down if anyone wants them

Cheers

Could you please post the part numbers here. :)

The number Skoda quoted me is 1HO698998C

Cheers

It aint that bad on mine TBH i dont think ill be bothering unless it get unbearable

Ive fitted balance weights before and they werent a 100% success. However they werent that part number so these could well be different.

How much did it cost to get this sorted? Low on funds, so have to weigh the moo against it mooving at all. Sad pun, but had to do it.

was under warranty...

Never had this problem but the car has started to moo in the last two weeks.

It's really annoying and now know what you've all been banging on about!

Will have to pop to the dealers at some point, cars now out of warranty though :(
