Glovebox removal for fuses Mk4 superb iV 2025

Featured Replies

Hello, I have followed the manual steps for removing the glovebox in my mk4 superb iV and have removed the guide latch but can’t get it passed the bump stops by ‘pressing on the sides’ (step3 have tried both pressing out and in) any experience/ideas? Trying to get to fuses as 12v sockets aren’t working. Thanks!

Did you manage to get access?

I have had the same problem getting the glove box out, and once you get it open you find that there are two spring loaded knobs that come out from the body of the dashboard and locate against the glovebox. The easiest way to release the glove box is to press these two knobs outwards rather than squeezing the glove box sides. You have to be careful not to mark the plastic with whichever tool you use - I used a long flat headed screwdriver. You notice that the instruction diagram above have the pressing in arrows (3) actually pressing outwards!

My previous car was a B8 Passat with the same requirement to remove the glove box to get to the fuses however the glove box sides were far far more flexible than the Skodas and squeezed in easily.

I’ve just done this too. Nothing is ever as simple as a manual suggests.

In my car, there are two fixed plastic “runners” in the dash, top of the glovebox opening, whilst the box itself has two fixed circular “knobs”.

Use a large flat screwdriver to push the glovebox side INWARDS , not outwards as the manual shows.

Unless you’re Chuck Norris or two separate gorillas, you cannot just “squeeze” the sides of the glovebox.

Be careful on the inner side as the damper slider thing is there.

Annoying design to access the fuse panel. Why not have a panel at the end of the dash, or in the boot?
