Black Edition TSi

Featured Replies

Just bought a Black Edition to go with our current Yeti (we've owned a few). It drives really well.Any tips or pointers?

Just enjoy it. Mine is 13 years old and has had no issues over the period. Everything still works like new and is now on 72k. My brother-in-law when he owned a Yeti was always asking to drive my Roomster. He has a Scala now.

It's a really interesting comparison with the Yeti. From the 3 hour drive after collecting it, I would say the Roomster rides less stiffly than the Yeti, but the Yeti has far better headlights !

I'm really warming to this spec of Roomster and think I was lucky to find 1 of 120.

+ 1.2 TSi is still a good engine and probably more at home than in the Yetis we've had

+ Sat Nav, pan roof, sports seats & wheel, 17", tinted side windows

+ Best colour to blend in the big side door and window if it bothers you

Am I right in thinking you avoid replacing the cam chain unless it is obviously rattly after its started up ? It's 100k and late 14 model.

Sometimes my rattles on cold start up. There is a slight noise from the hydraulic tappets but that is all. Ours is supposedly to have had the improved tensioner. The dealer filled mine with 0W 30W when the spec is 5W 30W so is that of benefit for the chain? Yes, 0W circulates quicker but does it lack body for faster rise in oil pressure which activates the tensioner? When we had the hot spell in the summer the thinness of the oil made the chain make a rubbing sound for a few seconds which worried me. The impending service and oil change eliminated that noise.

Thanks for the info. I bought it with full Skoda history, so I will keep that going when it's due in March. Definitely rides better than the Yeti on broken surfaces, despite being on the standard 205 40 17s which should be worse ...
