Rear sub frame bushes

Featured Replies

Hi all,

2014 fabia vrs.

Starting to get together the parts needed to change my rear sub frame bushes (see image below) is there anything else I should look at / change while doing the work (new shocks and springs done last year)

Ay assistance welcomed

Just did a couple on the front of my sons mk1. Found a tiny smear of silicone grease on bushes and subframe made the job a lot easier.

If I can give some advice: go polyurethane. It completely changes the car’s feedback for the better—more stiffness and better cornering capabilities. You might also consider adding a rear sway bar.
My Fabia combi (not a vrs just a 1.2 tsi stg.1 revo) is fully on 90 Shore polyurethane bushings from Strongflex (yellow bushings), Koni Sport (yellow), and various Ultra Racing braces, along with Whiteline front and rear sway bars. The car feels glued to the ground, (especially in summer with the Yokohama AD08RS).

Much stiffer than rubber, so suspension geometry stays more consistent.

I've decided to go Powerflex (easier to install than OEM)

Polybush units fitted (it's highlighted I need to treat the surface rust on the sub frames), d/s old one was well worn (You can't see in situ the wear for the plastic shields/spacers)

Passenger side rear brake pipe snapped during loosening (to lower the subframe) awaiting delivery of pipe (includes flexi) will be finished Tuesday

All done, renewed both rear brake pipes (solid and flexi) while doing the work, that's a full overhaul of suspension over the last 12 months so hopefully good for another few years 🤞
