Water in the door skins. Where is the drain hole?

Featured Replies

When I had the door cards off today I noticed some water in the bottom of the doors. Between the inner and outer skin.

It rained last night so I’m not overly surprised. I just wondered if it should drain straight out or if a little bit sitting in there is normal?

Also where is the drain hole on the door so I can check it’s clear. I couldn’t find it.

The drain holes are concealed under the seal on the door and are prone to blockage - gently insert fingers between the folds of the seal at the bottom of door and run them along it.

Sounds like something to be done most times when washing just to be on the safe side. Good tip 👍🏼

Here in my very dirty latitudes, I took a habit I've learned from professional autowashing centers, this is to open the doors while you are washing, and go well around the edges of the doors, and in between the pillars and doors as well.

If you do it right, or if the powerwash has an power on-power off option so you can lower the pressure, very little water will get in, but you go along cleaning as much as you can difficult areas, like this one reference here. Great tip to "feel" the seals, thanks!
