rattling back end

Featured Replies

i live in an area with those crappy concrete roads so as a result when i go down the street my car rattles its **** off but i have a particularly noisey one which is coming from the back end but i just cannot seem to locate when stationary

does any one know of any rattles in the boot behind the covers of anything

the spare is locked down and it aint the toolkit

any help would be great

The back seats can rattle/creak against the bracket that holds them upright. FOld them down and go for a drive to see if it cures the problem.

If it is coming from there, you can either glus some rubber onto the plastic next to the "eye" or fit a genuine dog guard (its what we did, but not for that reason). Both of these have the effect of pushing the seat away from the other part and stops the rattle.

Might help to get someone to sit in the back whilst you drive (but their weight might cure it temporarily!). In a relatives Octavia the rear passenger side door card vibrates, problem varies greatly depending on temperature/road surface. No easy way to cure it?

It's not something like a broken sub-frame mounting bush? Ok, that's more of a clonk than a rattle but...

Not the back seat then.

i aint really had chance to investigate yet but i'm thinking parcel shelf

though i did faart about with the boot catch when trying to find a ground recently

although it seems nice and tight could it be that ????

by the way thanks for your help

Spray the bootlid seals and hinges, rear doors seals, catches and hinges, rear seat catches and rear suspension rubbers with a light application of WD40. This sorted a similar prob for me.

thanks for the help it was the boot catch i hadn't put it back tight enough
