Gearbox odometer vs car

Featured Replies

Looking through the carscanner app sensors this morning I noticed something interesting/possibly worrying

The gearbox odometer is 29,441 miles higher than the car odometer.

Has the car been clocked? Has the gearbox been replaced with an older refurb? Is it normal??!!

Interested to hear some thoughts on this.

What does the MOT history show?

MOT history looks fine. And just looked and engine miles matches dash miles. So might just be a quirk of the gearbox data maybe?!

Use your scan tool to check mileage in the ABS module, Airbag module, or Engine ECU to see if they match the higher or lower number.

Engine matches dash. Lower number.

Didn’t see abs and airbag mileage. Will have a look next time I’m in the car.

Couldn’t find any mileage under SRS but there is some odometer recordings under and relating to tpms. These are within 1000 miles of the current dash mileage and I know I checked the tyres last week which would have been about the right mileage ago. So it seems abs is the same as dash.

Happy there’s nothing nefarious going on. Just interesting the tcu is different to ecu.
