Touch up paint

Featured Replies

Everytime I get my nose up close to my car I seem to find another little spot of missing paint and stone chips.

I havent used touch up paint before. I know it won't be a perfect finish but am keen to get something covering the metal work to ensure rust doesnt develop.

Any recommendations for cost effective touch up paint?

Thanks

I don’t think a touch-up paint pen is particularly expensive. Chances are if you go cheap you get cheap though.

Going to be something like Dr Colorchip is my guess.

If you haven’t done it before you want to make sure it’s absolutely clean so use a panel wipe (Garage Therapy Zero is very decen) to get rid of any contaminants and oils. Use a toothpick, thin layers, adequate time to dry between.

Kopacek sell touch up paint.

As long as u know ur car's paint code, u'll get the perfect match.

Kopacek is £35 with delivery. Found the part number on eBay for £20. I’ve got a big bottle of IPA I use to clean things down for stick on parts etc. Will give it a good clean with that too.

Use these guys, local also and will mix up the paint while you wait - https://www.carspaints.com/

Don't use the brush that it comes with get a small/fine brush and touch in with that

Be careful with eaby selleers! Don't forget to make a test on hidden parden before.

I had bought a touch-up paint for silver grey Audi rims on ebay 6 or 7 years ago, with the so-called matching paint code and it was not the right color at all. Wasted some quids...

Hoping that Skoda branded OEM kit is ok though! Might give the people @tombee recommended a call and see what it would cost from them.

They are pretty reasonable, got them to make some for a Mini Cooper when a bro in law need their Mini touching in after the sis in law reversed into a ice cream van

I got some XtremeAuto touchup paint on Amazon. The colour match was excellent (Corrida Red) and it was cheap. The included brush was a bit clumsy, so I got a finer brush. Worked for rock chips and a bigger gash, which you don't notice from 10 feet away.

You can buy direct from your local dealer

I need to top up some bits on mine, but don’t think I’d be good at it and might look worse

If a chip is to the metal where it would rust then you want a dab of Rust Inhibitor / converter on a coc-ktail stick applied a day before applying any paint.
