Electric Windows console issues

Featured Replies

So a few weeks back, when I was driving back from France to UK, when I got the the passport control, I realized my windows would not go down when pressing the buttons on the driver side window console (on the other doors, the buttons work fine). So as the car has got some 2 years warranty left with Skoda, I called had it booked in for them to investigate. Before I got there , I also took a couple of simple videos, of this issue (could feel life playing tricks on me).

I got to the Service, (Marshall Skoda in Dartford), left the car there in the AM, and went to work. At 4.30 PM I get a call saying that the car was inspected, but the fault could not be found, as the windows were all working normally and that I have to pay them 174£ for the time lost as they could not find anything wrong with it. I told them about the videos, but they said these were not accepted as the video must film the dash lighted up, showing the engine running and the window in the same frame... which no one told me before... Anyway I agreed to pay the 174£ with the condition if the fault reoccurs in the coming days, they will need to refund this, as long as I take a video of this, as per their requirements.

Surprise surprise, next day, same issues appear, the windows would not work again, hence I had to call them back and all. I am now booked to go back there next week to leave it for 2 days, and get them to investigate this once more (and hopefully get my money back as well) to try and replicate or see the fault this time, and see what is what.

I noticed this occurs more on the wet/cold days... Has anyone else experienced these issues, and what was the fix? Car is 2022 Skoda Superb iV SE Tech.

As a side note, I am thinking to ask them how much would retrofitting a USB-C on the rear view mirror would cost, has anyone had this done/costed as well? as I am hopeless with car fiddling, so would not be able to do it myself

For the mirror USB, I fear that they will say either 'not possible' - or will quote a ridiculously high price.

Try one of the specialist retro-fitters.

@alekssir - When you say they wouldn't go down, is that on the second "auto open" switch position? If so, I had a similar problem (which bizarrely only did it when the headlight switch was in the Auto position). Eventually, I found that by locking and unlocking the rear doors using the switches on the same drivers door window control panel miraculously solved the issue. Since I did that, I've not had any issues with them.

it does not go down at all, regardless if half way or total press...
