ADAS - Radar Front Assist Calibration Garage Southampton

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Can anyone recommend a good place to have the ADAS alignment done in Southampton? A Pheasant decided to headbutt the front grill and looks to have moved the Radar module out of alignment according to VCDS.

1 Fault Found:
1540 - Sensor for Automatic Distance Regulation; Incorrectly Positioned
          C1103 00 [00001001] - -
          [FAULT_MISALIGNMENT_HORIZONTAL]
Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear

Cheers!

Check the mounting plate of the sensor; it breaks easily.

Thanks, yea the mounting plate looks good thankfully. I did manipulate it back to be more square since it looked a little like it was pointing to the offside.

The plastic pins all look in tact so I think the metal bracket was slightly bent by the Pheasants head on impact.

I've noticed in VCDS there is an option in module 13 called 'Reset Misaligned Angle'. Anyone had any experience of this please?

I've performed the calibration and possibly some good news....

After a bit of a drive the values did creep up a bit but I do not know if this is normal over a period of time. They have reached -0.03 for the misalignment angle and the fast algorithms has reached -0.06.

I will have to keep a watch. Thus far no 'Front Assist Unavailable' warning.

For the benefit others, I've spoken to Dunns Automotive Ltd, Unit 11 South Point, Ensign Way, Hamble-le-Rice, Southampton SO31 4RF.

They seem very switched on and professional about a ADAS recalibration should I need this. It was at the time of writing this post £180 all in.

If my fault returns I will book in here.

Now it is grill repair/replacement time since that is one ugly gap!

As a point of reference this is from the VW Sharan so interesting to see that the values do not need to be bang on 0.00 degrees.

PS: for my OCD, please could a couple of people post pictures of their radar and how it looks in the housing?

I would like to check to ensure I've got the vertical alignment correct too now I think its horizontally aligned.

Mine could be pointing up slightly but not sure if this is by design.

Thanks in advance!

I've realised you do need a long drive of several miles for the settings to fully calibrate so I've ended up with these values:

Fingers crossed this will not creep up to the +/- 0.80 value which appears to be the threshold max.

That’s interesting.

I have the same fault code on my step-daughter’s Audi.

I don’t know if there is an option within OBDeleven to recalibrate it, or whether I need VCDS.

I don't have ODBeleven but I know that it has plenty of features and it should have the option to reset and relearn. This could be one of those sections where you need to pay a little extra to unlock that mode.

Perhaps other ODBeleven users can assist here.

Either way, if you've had that error pop up you might need to get the radar adjusted back before kicking off the relearning phase. Was there any physical damage?

If the deviations are too large, dynamic calibration no longer works; a static calibration must be performed.
