2018 1.0TSi Fabia, Vibration issue. Manual gearbox.

Featured Replies

Hello all, thanks for any advice given.

We've owned this Fabia from new, it only has 34k miles on the clock and has been regularly dealer serviced.

At around 35 mph the front of the vehicle starts to vibrate, as you push on up to 60 ish the vibration becomes worse, stick the clutch in and it stops.

This started happening a few weeks ago and we thought it was one of the OEM Tyres as it had started to split and go out of shape, new tyres later and still the same problem.

I'm unsure if the car is on a dual mass flywheel, would any of the knowledgeable folks in here think it could be? Apparently they make the engine vibrate even at idle, it isn't doing that.

Could it possibly be a driveshaft issue?

Again, thanks for any input, it's a puzzling one!

Not on the petrol ones.

So when you accelerate only?

Where did the tyres get fitted to on the car?

Yes, under acceleration, as soon as you stick the clutch in, the vibration stops.

The tyres are Falken all weather compound and we had new ones fitted to the front of the car, the problem was happening before the tyres were fitted.

Thanks for replying and the knowledge about the dual mass. I'm beginning to wonder if the clutch has an issue though.

Any change in noise when the clutch in or out?

Is it engine revs related?

Does it happen in every gear at the same revs?

Has the car been scanned for faults?

Have you got Falken AS210's all round?

I have had the same problem on my Octavia for a good while now. Weird wobble/vibration at 40-50mph only when accelerating. Garage I sometimes use couldn't find anything amiss but did feel the wobble. If I lift my foot of pedal or engage clutch it disappears. I have checked everything and now reckon its a drive shaft/cv joint related problem. I have been waiting until it gets worse so I can work out which one. Have noticed very slight play in the offside one now so reckon its the problem. There's no real feeling in steering wheel but more through the seat. Was going to attempt it this week but rear spring just snapped so having to do it first as we need the car daily.

Quick thoughts - engine mounts (more noticeable on acceleration or braking perhaps), misfire perhaps on the three cylinder engine, could be lots of other thing though.

You don't get much with VWŠkoda Dealership servicing and maintenance schedules but have the spark plugs been changed.

IIRC 1.0 mpi engines had a weaker gearbox but that is a different gearbox to the 1.0 TSI.
