Anyone know if the rear fog can be easily switched to the other side (left for EU). Can the bulbs housing just be swapped and the appropriate wire rerouted. The reversing is fine as it's both sides.

From memory the rear fog light is a coding issue so should be an easy fix by anyone with vcds or similar with no need for physical changes.

I think it has a dual filament bulb on the right side. Can't see how it would be swappable on a 2008 MK2??

From memory, it's a coding job on a pre-face lift, bigger job on a facelft.

On the face lift estate it is easy to disconnect the fog light wire on the right and extend it across the boot and reconnct to appropriate place in the left hand light cluster. Probably works for all models.

...But wouldn't there need to be a coding adaptation to inform the light monitoring system?

I don't think so as the power is still coming from the right hand wiring.

I think the lamp monitoring system is looking for a change in current in each circuit - I suspect a significant increase or decrease in any monitored circuit will trigger the warning.

That is why it still works using an extension cable from one side to a bulb on the other side. The current is still being monitored on the original right hand side.

I’ve coded for both left and right fog lights on. Might be possible to switch sides but I’m not sure from memory - could also be related to the country the car was made for.

Can anyone help me identify the wire colours into the LH & RH rear light pods? I think I am colour blind as I cant match them to any colour charts (words) I have found.

I THINK I have

RHS Brown (earth?), blue/yellow, blue/white, blue/green, green/yellow (??)

LHS Brown, black/white, blue/green, blue/?

But as I say I may be way off. Any identification of what the wires are (colour and position in each side plugs) would be most gratefully received.
