P/N on pin in fusebox

Featured Replies

I have a Octavia II 1,9TDI with GSD, Edition 100, I have installed a SonyEricsson hands free set. Everything is connected to the Audience sound system. But I got one problem. I want to take the power from one unused fuse. It is Power in, but I want to insert a pin/socket with the power out. Is it someone that knows the part number on this? I don't want to make any bad connections like I have seen.

Thank you

Sorry, I'm from Norway and my English isn’t any good

there are spare switched and permanent live fuse holders in the fuse box. get a multimeter and check the voltages to identify them. I used the unused 'phone' fuse holder for the switched live and the unused 'trailer' fuse holder for the permanent live.

I have found the one I want to use, If I remember right it is17. It's unused, no fuse in it, but it is only Powered at the top, so I want to put a Fuse in and connect the power wire (out after fuse) to the hands free with a pin that get connection to the fuse. My car got a wire connected to the phone fuse, but i don't know where it goes, or if it's used. I used the Radio on (output) from the CD playerand not the ignition to turn on the Bluetooth set, because the stereo have to be turned on to get sound from the hands free.

I got a male spade connector with a bit cut off the side and pushed it into the place where your getting your power from. I then got an in-line fuse holder and put it just down from the connector.

It would be a tidy job to do it better but I didn't fancy ripping out the fuse box. I think it was a Tel + where I took it from IIRC.

You want something like

000 979 227

If you want to put an OE connector into the fuse box.

Is it a big job to remove the fuse box to get into the back of it ? I was afraid of maybe working a few cables loose.

The cables will be well held in.

You may need to release a 'latch' inside the fusebox (these are often purple) to enable you to push the new wire in.

The wires that Ross gave you the number for above may have to be ordered in quantities of 6, depending on your dealer, and they will have a crimped termination on each end.

Thanks for the answers, for mi it look like the pin have a lock clip on it self. I don't want to remove the fuse box, I just removed the cover behind it. I don’t think it is any problem to get the pin in. The cover is just fastened with 3 clips.

Don't know about the Octy II but the Octy 1 TDIs should be the same as the MK IV Golf in which case there are several screw posts in the secondary fuse/relay panel (the one under the steering wheel).

These 'posts' are colour coded with stickers (if it hasn't fallen off). For a switched live 12vDC feed you need the one labelled "75x" (the yellow one) To take a the feed just slacken off the nut and use a forked spade connector under it. I don't think the supply to the post is fused so you will need to put one in via an inline fuse holder between the post and your new 'equpiment'

One of these 'posts' may also be a permanent live but I couldn't tell you which one of the top of my head.

(I have a piccy somewhere of these and will post it up later)

CAVAT: Multimeter the posts before connecting anything and if you are messing about with screw drivers in this relay panel then keep your face away from the airbag

Octy 2 is different as it has the central electrics ECU for power distribution.

75x is crank relief (live except when cranking).

30 will be permanent live

15 is ignition live.

sorry to bump this thread but it is regarding my other thread here http://www.briskoda.net/forums/ice-security-insurance/power-fusebox-help-mkii-octi/65865/

i presume the oe connector lummox mentions 000 979 227 is what i need for my install or is there also something else i can use? i dont really wish to solder anything if at all possible so if this connector allows the wire from the talex unit to go straight into the fusebox then that is what i will use :)

many thanks in advance

I'm not sure off the top of my head if that is the right one but I'm sure it is. What you will get for your money is a length of Yellow wire with a termination on each end.

I usually cut them in half which gives me two usable wires. You'll need some way of joining it to your Talex wire such as an inline crimp. You'll also need to get hold of a ring tongue crimp for the earth connection.

cool. any idea how much this costs? also is there something (i.e. a pre-screwed whole) that the crimp fastens on to?

The wires are around a £1 each IIRC and I use the top securing screw of the fuse panel as an earth point.

I assume this means you cannot connnect ANY new kit into the fusebox without these additional parts...

Can you/should you order these through a Skoda/VAG dealer, or is there another way to obtain them?

You can order them from Skoda. They come attached to a yellow wire.

I wouldn't say you cn't connect as you could use a scotchlok or similar but by using the OEM connector you can use it to occupy an unused fuse slot.

has anyone used an add-a-circuit and know of where to get them in the uk? seems quite a neat idea...
