Why am I having Deja Vu here

 Mr Sdenny :) I like the car loads as a whole package the interior does not bother me at all. I used Hankook tyres on my vRS and they where sweet as (and cheap lol)

Yeah, nice car! my mate had one and said every journey was an event - it was fast enough and also he said it went well in snow! His was a GT T-bar non turbo.

Good luck.

I don't think you'll be disappointed.

No kids then? SWMBO did look cool in the car' date=' even with the baby seat in the passenger seat. That's why it went unfortunately :(

We even used to take the dog (labrador) out in it. With the seat all the way back, there was just enough room for him in the footwell. One time we went to my sisters and then went dog walking. We went past a TOyota dealer with an identical car on the forecourt. We were chatting when a salesman pounced and said "Nice car - no good for you though with the dog!" We just laughed and left him to it.

And apparently, I must have really liked it: [url']http://www.mr2.com/OWNERS/SteveDenny.html[/url]

As well as the yellow, I also liked that metalic purply blue they did arround the R & S reg plates (was that 98?). Like this http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/CARS_popup.asp?modelexact=1&lid=search_used_cars_full&make=TOYOTA&model=MR2&variant=&keywords=coupe+cosmos+blue&min_pr=75&max_pr=&mileage=&agerange=&postcode=hr9+6ax&miles=1500&max_records=200&source=0&photo=1&sort=5&ukcarsearch_full=SEARCH&start=2&distance=104&adcategory=CARS&channel=CARS&id=200629243654298

(looks better in the sunshine...)

Enjoy.

I know someone who is selling a markII MR2 - P reg - amazing condition £4K Red - not a t bar though, I think about 50 something thousand on the clock. My mates obsessed with it going to "a good home" as he loves it but is starting his own dent and scratch repair business and needs van.

I have been in it and it seems very nice although the fact that your head lines up with the back bumper of lorries worries me somewhat!

Dont know how much use I can be to you, but i've had 2 MKII Turbo's, A t-bar and a hard top.

You would be suprised how much you can get in the boot, it's bigger than you'd expect, plus as said storage behind seats and under bonnet.

Not all models come with the premium sound system but it's not so much of a problem if it does, just by pass all the amps (theres loads of em hidden all over the place), or use em with a new head unit (they sell wiring adaptors).

T-Bars dont handle quite as well as hard tops, but theres very little in it, all t-bars leak so dont let that put you off a nice model.

The only thing to watch out for handling wise is terminal understeer, which you counter with power oversteer so they are great fun, just remember the engine is behind you so if you go too sideways your not gonna recover it!

Anything else you wanna know just let me know.

Cheers, been reading up on the silicone grease treatment for t-bar seals

Will be kept as a part time toy, so will be kept under wraps when not being driven :) I am deffo wanting a UK NA though, tubbys probs are more fun but I want long term reliablity.

Mr. 2! Mr. 2! Mr. 2! Mr. 2!

Owned a UK spec K reg GT. Quite possibly the best car I've ever owned - just needed a bit more poke and air-con.

The early (non-cat) 158bhp cars were the fastest N/A versions but the later 154bhp (cat models) had revised suspension, 15" (instead of 14") wheels and power steering with a quicker rack and handled a lot better (early models were a bit prone to spinning). Later 173bhp models, again handled a smidge better, but were no quicker (in fact in the 'real world) they may have actually been a bit slower as all the power was way up the rev range - peak was at about 7000rpm IIRC.

My mate had this one: he absolutley loved it.

In terms of reliability it doesn't really matter wether you go for a Turbo or not, both are good strong engines, the turbo is capable of taking lots of extra boost before it starts getting into trouble, and believe me, you'll regret not getting the turbo.

My old black TRD Turbo is still owned by a mate (the second mate to own it after me) and that's been pushing 350BHP for over 7 years now, it gets used every day and all it's ever needed was a new exhaust backbox.

Definately go for a revison 3 model (round rear tail lights, when switched on) as the suspension was modified and they are less prone to going through hedges backwards!

  I am going for a '98 R plate, think it is the version they did just before the Rev 5 (smaller spoiler) You have pretty much sold the MR2 ownership thing John  I think with my Mrs gonna be driving it too a turbo is a deffo no goer  It would be in a ditch lol!!! Plus Insurance is mental for me this year (last year of declaring a fault accident)

:iagree:

Never had any problems with storage - Several week ends away (not sure you'd want to go camping with it for 2 weeks, but I'm sure someone will come along and say they have!!)

Well my mate came round in his Rev 5 and I am sold :D WOW!!!!!!!!!!! What a drive!!! His had 78k on the clock and drove like a new car :) The gear change is so slick and the driving position is great. I found it went over speed bumps smoother than the Octy and it was nicer to drive to be honest (and I absolutely loved my Octy!!!!!!) Obviously it is no 2.0l Fabia, but boy was it great I am still grinning!!!!!

The only downside I can think of is that driving an MR2 makes you look like you've got a really big head, honestly - look next time someone drives past you!

I think it's because the cabin looks so small (even though it's not really).

WOOOOOOOOOO I have finally bought a car!!!!! :D Got myself an N reg MR2 T-Bar. After looknig at some right dog rough ones I found a peach!!! Cost me £3.2k Which is a whole less than I was going to pay so I am happy :) Needs some work on the paintwork (someone got a bit to frisky woth the polish on the spoiler and there are stone chips on the bonnet) but once that is done it will look like new!!!! The interior is in excellent condition for it's age!!! The mad thing is it's been owned by forces people throughout its life?!?!?! I found that to be quite strange (bloke never knew I was in the forces by the way!!) It's original folder was crammed full of all it's bills, MOTs and other gubbins. I am a happy monkey :D Bring on some more sunshine (bet it will start pi$$ing it down now!!!!) Oh and bring on next wee kwhen i get it lol!!!!

Edit Piccy mediaid355152369.jpg

Silver Wipers are gone lol!!!!!

Very nice!

Keep that lovely red paintwork nicely waxed so it doesn't fade (common on that colour).

I'd love a second (RWD) car, been looking at these myself...along with the VX220 and newer MR2 roadster.

VX220 costs 10k+, the MR2 is way more affordable, and justifiable in terms of having money tied up in a 'toy' that will only be used at weekends...

Toyota probably more reliable than a Vauxhall too!
