Mirror fallen away from windscreen.

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Our mirror has fallen off the screen today. Can I just buy something to stick it back on or is it a bit more involved. The car is a 20 plate sport line

Might be easiest to pop to the nearest windscreen replacement company as they must have do this when replacing a windscreen. Probably need to remove the old adhesive too.

I've spoken with national windscreens today and they have said as the bracket has fallen away it would require a replacement screen as the bracket is bonded to the glass at manufacturer.

Booked in with JCB Skoda Maidstone for the 9th of June which is the earliest date they had. We have only had the car 11 months and when we bought it we were given a 3 year warranty which we increased to 4, but straight away they service guy stated it probably won't be covered by warranty as they don't normally fail so could be some external influence.

If they normally failed they would have to be getting a fix for that, or would likely Exclude from a Warranty. What might be an External Influence like Sunlight or Deep freezing frost? Service Desk staff are really quite funny. You would think they were Guardians of the Money.

Check your warranty exclusions and push hard for them to fix FOC if it clearly is not excluded.

Halfords do a loctite windscreen/mirror adhesive for around £6 plus there are a few others online. Last windscreen I saw replaced didn't have the bracket on the new screen. The windscreen replacement company (think it was autoglass glued the original back on. Think it may have been a Nissan. As said if they don't normally fail then reckon warranty should cover it as it shouldnt have failed.

This is what is and isn't included so unless they are classing it as interior trim I don't think it's mentioned specifically.

I have looked at these adhesives. Just wondering if it would work. I guess for a few quid it's worth a shot but I don't really want to damage it anymore and then have Skoda tell me it isn't covered. Maybe I'll wait until they have looked at it as you never know, they may cover it.

It does not state rear view mirror as not covered. Unless they class it as interior trim.

If the ADAS camera is mounted in the mirror frame it will almost certainly require recalibration.

Do you have ACC?

No, just standard cruise.

There is a camera for the matrix headlights if you have those.

Not sure if we have those or not. Is there a way to tell?
