Octavia battery

Featured Replies

Hi, i have an Octavia estate 2L diesel Mk 5, which i believe is a 5e5. First thing in the mornings it can take a bit of turning before it starts. Once it's going its not to bad, but i do charge it every now and then and then it behaves for a little while. I do get some funny messages when its a bit slow to start, so i am thinking that maybe its time for a new battery as it is still on its original battery. My question is; AGM or EFB battery. Some say EFB, but the car is fitted with a Varta AGM battery. Will it make a difference if a EFB battery is fitted.

Regards.

10 year old battery is a good innings these days with stop/start tech, so yes, a new battery sounds a good idea.

Best stick with AGM otherwise you will have to change the battery type coding.

Thanks for the reply. You say i'll have to change type coding. I have to ask what is the battery type coding?

Cheers

I have just seen a YOU TUBE video on battery coding. The video even recommends coding for the same type of battery.
