How to stop mirrorlink from activating

Featured Replies

Have a 21 plate Superb L&K.

Not really sure what setting has been changed or what has happened, but for some reason mirrorlink always tries to activate if I plug the phone in.

This never used to happen, the car would connect wirelessly to the phone and use android auto, and then if plugged in it would continue to use android auto.

But for the last several months, I can connect wirelessly and it will use android auto, but if I plug in then it tries to use mirrorlink, which then does not connect. Unplugging the phone doesn't help and it just won't connect until I turn the engine off and on, or delete the phone connection and restart (and do not plug in the phone).

Effectively, I can't actually charge my phone in the car anymore. Driving me a bit bonkers, so I would really appreciate it if someone knows the fix to this!

Whilst it doesn't answer the question specifically, you have 2 options to charge the phone:

  1. use one of the cigarette lighter chargers; they do pretty fast units these days

  2. convert one of the cigarette points to a flush USB unit permanently.

I think I have a spare one of those kicking around, so I may have to do that on the upcoming road trip if I can't find a better suggestion. Thanks!

Hi @Mr_Bigglesworth ,

Not sure I understand properly...

Formerly, you used to connect your phone to the car via BT connection without mirror link and simultaneously connected with a wire to get your phone charged. Is that right ?

And currently you still connect your phone to the car via BT but mirror link activates automatically, or does it activate only once wire connected?

If your phone is simultaneously connected to the car via BT and WiFi, it can activate mirror link automatically. If you deactivate WiFi connection, it should prevent the mirrolink from activating.

Also Check your Android Auto settings. Maybe there's something ticked that enables automatic mirror link activation...

Not 100% sure, since I have Car Play instead of Android auto. It may be a bit different.

Just guessing...
