My daughter as bought a 22 plate kamiq with no spare wheel/tyre

Her tyres are R 17 s and I understand a spare r17 will not fit in her boot.

Can she put a r16 on her car as a spare get you home if she gets a puncture.

That's a 205/55R16 6Jx16 ET35 5/100 57.1 steel wheel...which is the wrong tyre size for the Kamiq. The correct wheel sizes for the Kamiq are 195/60R16 6Jx16 ET35 (winter tyre size), 205/60R16 6Jx16 ET38, or 205/60R16 6Jx16 ET40. Skoda parts department may have poorly chosen the 205/55R16 tyre size because it's cheaper than the correct tyre sizes for the Kamiq, ie. 195/60R16 or 205/60R16.

Skoda don't approve 205/55R16 for the Kamiq, ie. it won't be in the car's CoC (Certificate of Conformity).

The spare tyre doesn't have to be listed in the car's CoC, so although a non-standard tyre size could be used it's has a much smaller outside diameter than the Skoda approved tyre sizes...as shown in the chart below.

It's best to order a spare wheel kit without the actual spare wheel (ie. the foam and jack kit), and purchase a spare wheel separately. This way you can select the tyre and rim that you want, and not accept the undersize tyre that VAG parts departments are selling for the Kamiq.

The spare wheel kit (everything, except for the actual spare wheel) can be ordered from "skoda parts com" for about £55 including UK VAT and delivery to the UK from Czech. "skoda parts com" pay the UK 20% VAT, so there's no extra VAT to pay on delivery. It can also be ordered from any VAG parts department, by quoting the relevant OEM part number (eg. 658093860 or 658093860A).

Although a 205/60R16 should be fitted to either a 6Jx16 ET38 or 6Jx16 ET40 rim, it could also be fitted to a 6Jx16 ET35 rim for use as a spare wheel. However, 205/60R16 6Jx16 ET35 isn't a Skoda approved wheel size (ie. it's not listed in the car's CoC).
