Hi, have just got a fabia 2 2007.

Windows not working properly!

At first they didn't work at all. Repaired the previously repaired door harness with repair harness. New switch. New drivers door lock and second hand window motor.

They work for 10 minutes then stop! Lock and unlock the car and they work again.

Ex honda tech but know nothing of skodas. Any help gratefully received!

Maybe I'm picking you up wrong, but, after switching the ignition off and staying in the car, the controllers will go to sleep after a certain time, and 10 minutes sounds about right, so after that, the electric windows will not work - unless you flick the ignition ON/OFF again.

Also, if you, for instance, have a passenger in the car and after you switch the ignition off, as soon as they open a door then close it - the electric windows will not work unless you - as in the previous paragraph, flick the ignition ON/OFF.

No it's once I'm driving. Start the car and the windows will work for 10 minutes. So iif I lower them when I set off and drive for more than 10 minutes they stop working. So when I get to my destination the only way to put them up is to lock the car with the key, then unlock. The windows then work for another 10 minutes. Really annoying.

Check fuse 11 if you haven't already.

Was the replacement window motor an exact part number match? (Listing photos?)

Hi, yes have checked the fuses a couple of times. The osf window motor part number matches the listing for the vehicle. But the passenger window was already doing the same thing driver's window didn't work at all.

Previous owner has been at it as well.

The 10 minute operation followed by sleeping is what is supposed to happen after ignition is switched off, provided that doors sre kept shut.

This suggests that that the 'ignition on' feed from fuse 11 to the black/blue wire on the smaller plug (assuming 6Y1959801 module part type) is not being correctly maintained for some reason.

I wonder if the loom repair has crossed over a couple of similar-coloured wires?

Measure this black/blue feed for 12V relative to the thick brown wire in the other connector with ignition on.

Or bring the car to Highworth and I should be able to figure it out for you.

I can share wiring diagrams with you, but need to know if it is a 6Y1959801 part number motor, or 6Q1959801F which came next, late in 2007 or early 2008.

Hi again. Fuse 11 is ok. 7.5 amp? But stays live the whole time.. The blue black wire in the small plug stays live all the time with ignition on. .

The large brown wire on the motor is an earth. The red and white large wire is live with the ignition. On.

Extra info. This time the passenger window stopped after about 10 minutes. Door shut. The drivers window stayed working for a long time with the door open! Stopped after 10 minutes of door being shut. So time starts on door closed signal being detected?

Also drivers window works the wrong way round. Up is down and down is up. 🙄

Passenger window only works on passenger door. Drivers side swith has no function.

If that's driver's door, which it looks like, then you have the wrong part number fitted there.

You have 6Y2959801, SK240PDRS, which is a passenger side module from a mk1 Fabia.

It should be 6Y1959801, SK250DDRS.

That's why everything is behaving strangely. They're not interchangeable even though it physically fits.
