dsg clucking noise from p to n

Featured Replies

Škoda Octavia 2020 2.0 TDI, 50,000 km

When I switch the ignition on (without starting the engine), I can hear an electric motor operating underneath the gear selector. When it finishes its movement, there is a single knock/clunk that can be both heard and felt through the car's chassis and dashboard.

The same thing happens when I move the selector from P to N, and again when I move it back. Sometimes the knock is louder and more noticeable, and other times it's quieter.

The car drives perfectly. The gearbox shifts flawlessly, and engaging R, N, and D is completely smooth with no issues.

I have a manual, and when I switch on the engine, I can also hear a motor running for a few seconds. I've always taken it to be the sensors waking up, which is why I never try to turn over the engine until the noise stops. However, I don't have a clunk after the motor noise does stop
