Skoda are replacing my head unit but im thinking off selling it

Featured Replies

Got a skoda fabia vrs and they are repacing my Symphony head unit under warrenty. I have asked them not to code it to the car as i am thinking of selling it with codes etc. Whats it worth and will someone be able to just plug it in and code it to there car first time. Reason im selling it is i want a unit that i can plug a ipod into but skoda will only replace like for like under warrenty

Advice please

The new owner will need to provide proof of ownership of their car along with the number from the radio and the chassis number of the car to obtain a code. Should cost £10.

So even though the radio had never been fitted it will have a unique code for each car regardless?

The code is generated from an alogorithm using the Radio Serial Number. I am not 100% sure that it also uses the Car Chassis Number but it is required to get the code.

A new Radio isn't normally issued with a code, I doubt you have one for your current Radio.

New radios are allways issued with codes, or the dealer would have to pants about sending off for the info before they can install it. Just make sure they update yur radio book or give you the new sticker.

I've never been given a code for any of mine. When I meant not issued with codes I meant given to the user.

You dont normally get codes with a new car. You allways get codes with a replacement headunit, if the dealer/techie gives you that then thats up to them I guess. I allways do.
