Octavia VRS rear end issues

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I am having a strange issue with what feels like the rear end of my mk3 vrs (multilink)

When driving along, the car "tram lines" and feels loose at the rear. When I put the foot down to overtake someone, the car torque steers violently as I change lanes.

Its on new Bilstein B8 dampers, new eibach springs and all the bushes have been replaced and 4 wheel alignment has been done. Results below.

It also has new ball joints, drop links and track rod ends up front.

Anyone any ideas? im almost thinking one of the rear bilstein dampers is faulty from the factory

Thanks

I wonder whether the suspension was allowed to settle with the car's full weight on the wheels before all the bolts were tightened?

What are your tyres like?

Were they on the car before the work's been done? - just wondering if they've been previously subject to odd wear, that's now mis-matched with the new set up?

Might be worth getting someone to follow you on a straight flat road and see if the car is dipping on one corner at rear when accelerating. If it is then maybe swap shocks around and see if it moves to the other side. Before swapping might be worth loosening and retightening bolts in case one side has been tightened when off the ground. Made that mistake on my mk2 as I was tired and the car was a few cm higher on one side. From memory its the shock bolts and wheel end of swing arm.

Thanks for replies guys

All sorted. Ended up being the lower toe control arm on driver side.

The inner bolt had worked its way loose. Supposedly all checked when alignment was done. But all good now

Glad you got it sorted out. How do you find the ride with new parts and bilstein eibach combo? Is it the bilstein b12 kit with b8 shocks and eibach pro springs?

Im also thinking of replacing/upgrading my shocks and springs but still havent decided. Also with the fuel prices skyrocketing it doesnt make me feel good throwing much money in the old but reliable diesel Vrs.

Its B8 shocks and sportline springs. Drives really well. I have 15mm spacers on aswell

Ok, you dont find the ride too firm? I'm considering b8+eibach pro or b6 with oe-specced eibach replacement line springs. Its my daily so wouldnt want too firm ride.
