Removing badges?

Featured Replies

Well, I swapped my car for something a bit slower :(

Unfortunatley the previous owner has added some tacky badges to the interior

The one that concerns me most is the badge that has been stuck to the ashtray cover, it looks like an external badge to me.

So, how do I get it off? Only asking as I don't want to damage the fake aluminium/carbon look ashtray cover.

Oh, and does anyone know of a place that can fix exhausts, I reckon its blowing but the dealer said "oh, its a sports exhaust, no cat ;) "

:Yikes: :detective: :shhh:

Those Audi badges stick like ****, don't they. Try a chisel. Or buy a new ashtray cover. Or am I thinking of the badge on the back?

KwikFit etc etc etc. That's where the previous owner used to get exhaust work done, IIRC. rolleyes.gif

Hairdryer, patience, isoprop' - impregnated wipes.

NB - don't allow isoprop to burn :hbomb:

Or leave it to the dealer.

No need to bother going to KwikFit or the like - Nip round here - I've got some double sided stickytape that will do the job no problem and at half the price.

No Denis, its not an Audi badge on the ashtray cover.

Why do people bother with doing that? I know what I'm driving, it has the model designationon the gearknob and the floor mats. Was the previous owner a halfwit, that they couldn't remember what they were driving?

Oh well, at least it has a full warranty.

Again, not a problem. I've got some nice yellow paint at home - if you paint the badge in question and the air vent surrounds and perhaps the gear knob as well I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the results. No one will ever know that the interior was meant to look any different.

Yellow paint? Yellow paint? I'd rather keep the rather tacky ashtray!

;)

Pop into any Skoda dealer (preferably not your local dealer) who has an RS on the forecourt. Request keys for a drive. Swap ashtray with yours. Hand back keys. Tell them you found it too slow to drive. Leave forecourt.

And what's wrong with yellow ? :worried:

Excellent! :D

Coming round past Clackett lane last night after picking the car up it was great, lots of people looking bemused as I went by. Reminded me of my old one when I had a very similar exhaust on it. ;)

Well Jon, wot you got?

A shiny black magic vRS :D

I've been thinking , and my advice has changed.

Try a fishing rod & line ;)

You haven't bought what I think you've bought have you?

I think he has! ;)

At least most of the major mods are already done...just the bigger turbo left...I guess.

:scratchch

PLINK!

:D

So how is Des's vRS?

I imagine the Welsh trip on 3rd will be interesting....perhaps Des will try and get into the RS and drive off by mistake.

The real question would be, "Who will have to drive the Superb home?".

So, Is the black "RS" remaining on the boot, that's the question...?

I can't recommend the tough fishing line sawing technique for getting off badges. It's just a question of what you use to get off the sticky residue. I wouldn't use anything much stronger than WD-40, and a blunt fingernail.

Its hair dryer time again ;)

Get some heat on it, as long as you think the surface its monuted on its strong enough to let the badge come off without damage.

Once its nicely warmed up, then use the fishing line trick :)

perhaps Des will try and get into the RS and drive off by mistake.

Which one the Red Baron or the Black beast. :feedtroll
