different tyres on 07 model octavia vrs?

Featured Replies

just noticed the tyres on the latest octavia vrs are dunlop sp sports whereas models from earlier in the year have the bridgestone potenzas, wonder why or if theres much of a difference in performance at all?

EH??!

Mine's got Continental Sport Contact 2s...but I've got the 18s...

They are allways changing depending on who is supplying Skoda at that time.

Had Dunlop sport tryes before and all they are good for is 12K. Had them on a Primera SRI (decent motor) and it ate them. I am not a particularly fast driver and appreciate the cost of things so I drive a little conservatively (old man). I have Conti's on my Vrs and they have tons of rubber left @ 13K. Should do 20K if lucky on the fronts.

And if VAG are like most mass market car manufacturers, that depends on which tyre manufacturer gave them the cheapest quote for, say, 20_000 205/45R17Zs to be delivered over the next 10 weeks at a rate of 4_000 per day.

Ding...

Car manufacturers do *everything* for cost reasons. I'm not saying the dunlops will have less grip / less noise / better wear /etc, but if they do it will have been a very small factor compared to the potential cost saving. At the end of the day they are building cars to make money...
