Are ipods really as good as people say?

Featured Replies

I bought my iPod about 2 weeks after they were first launched, use it every day & it's still working perfectly.

It's brilliant.

Hmm..

I see micro direct have the 4gb nanos in for 146quid... very tempting.

i guess your all right about the support thing, im not a conventionist, and from the simple reason i *hate* itunes and apples mean i should buy a zen, but then wouldnt be able to use it in a car.

Other than that, im always going to be weary of hdd based mp3 players. and i guess my attention span to music means 4gb is plenty :D

and at the end of the day, my pda will play video in 640x480 glory and last longer on battery too :)

Done... just bought a 4gig black nano

now just need to figure out itunes

does stuff i put on the ipod have to be in the itunes library?

No if you set it to manually update you can do what you with it

When I go out running, I use my mobile phone. Stores plenty enough for me.

I'm new to iPods, So please bare with me :D

1. Is iTunes the software to upload onto the iPod or is it a means of downloading songs from tinterweb?

2. Can you transfer MP3's direct from you PC (I have stacks of ripped CD's on my hard drive) or do you have to use iTunes?

3. Would I be better off with a Creative Zen, having no experience of Macs or iPods?

In answer:

1) You can use it for both functions

2) You will need to import the mp3's into the iTunes music library and then sychronise those you want to transfer to your iPod. Be very careful with how you choose to manage your music library.

3) Your experience with Macintoshes is irrelevant. The iTunes application is still just another application that is fairly easy to get used to whichever computer platform you use.

i find it better to drag the songs already ripped to my computer straight onto my ipod. i dont sync with my library.

makes life easier i think this way. so music already on your computer is a dodle to put on your ipod.

That's the answer I was looking for. :D

you still have to use itunes.

eg

open a my music window in windows

open itunes

drag selected songs to ipod icon in itunes.

hey presto.

I can live with that.

Still don't know whether I really need a MP3 player!

your head unit (DEH 4700) can support mp3's it just depends how much music you need at one time.

I know. I listen to MP3's all the time in the car.

There's only 2 places where I listen to music - the car & at home.;)
