Crap Dealer service, advice please

Featured Replies

:thumbdwn: 3 months after i bought the car it was hit by another car, the driver was willing to pay the bill for all repairs to my car. So i booked it in for repairs. DM Keith re sprayed the bumper, rear wing and fixed the marks on the alloy and the guy paid the bill for me. A few weeks later the i took it back to tha garage for its 10k service and asked them to look at the tail gate as the tail gate was rubbing on one end of the bumper. They said they'd adjusted it and as it was pitch black i took the car home. When i looked at the car in the daylight the tailgate was still rubbing on the bumper so when i had time i took it back again to be looked at. This time someone came out and looked at it and said "the bumper was warped, have you had an accident in it?" My reply was "Yes, you guys fixed it!" His reply was it needed a new bumper. If theyd said it needed a new bumper when it went in for repairs the guy who hit me would have had to foot the bill. So being a bit pee'd off i just left it as i could live with it.

In the hot weather the bumper has expanded and rubbed even worse than before, so bad infact that paint is now coming off the tailgate and rusting. I rang the garage for a quote on a new bumper and blending in paint job.

You might want to remove the dealer name from your post as they might get funny if they see it. Voice of expereince talking here!

Let them see it. Its part of their customer service to be told of poor 'service' as much as it is good :)

Also bear in mind that a non Skoda approved body centre spraying your car will invalidate the paint warranty and possibly the anti-corrision warranty (so the dealer told me).

so that means almost every accident repair an insurance company pays for has no Skoda paint or corrosion guarantee because the insurers want the vehicles to go to their approved bodyshop because its cheaper:eek:

Hi All

Had lots of problems with DM Keith (Ossett).

Ignorant service manager, techies that damage cars and when they have damaged them you are left to find it and report it.

In the end I wrote to Mr Angus Keith about the level of service. I advise you to do the same.

...and the response from Angus was...?

Mr Keith was very disappointed to hear of my experiences with his company. He said that whilst he does not receive many letters from aggrieved customers, when one does arrive he takes it quite personally and professionally as DM Keith is his family's business.

Mr Keith's reply was prompt and courteous and he was keen to find an amicable solution. Mr Keith also called to update me on the outcome of a meeting I had with their bodyshop gentleman from Leeds and to propose a gesture of goodwill. The dealer principal was meant to attend the same meeting but did not and did not forward any apology for absence.

The upshot of my complaint was that the techy who damaged my vehicle was facing an internal disciplinary action as has Mr Keith said to me no car coming into their service bays should be damaged - the first thing they tell their techies is that if they damage a car they should own up to it as the company is in the best postion to put it right without the customer returning to the vehicle and finding it themselves.

That's correct, however you have the right to specify where the work is done so it's your responsibility to tell the insurance company who will be carrying out the work.

Just what i was going to say! ;)

I had this problem on a BMW Mini I had, resprayed the bonnet by non approved bodycentre and warranty went out the window! Same with the windscreen a non Mini windscreen had been fitted when it cracked (known issue normally covered under warranty) they refused to touch it.

Any excuse not pay up!

Forgot to add my local dealer saw my comments on here about them and he was not happy about it, I had to take them down to keep things moving with the issues I had.
