Skoda advise 4 yearly change on cam-belt

Featured Replies

I received a letter from my less-favourite dealer yesterday saying that Skoda have stated that the cam-belt should always been changed ever 4 years, regardless of mileage. I assume that super-high mileage cars can have them done soon though.

They then offered a special discount rate - I think about

Hi

Yes they are all coming about in regards these.

But the water pump needs doing at the same time.

We use the metal impellad one and the dealers use the plastic one still.

Still 60k its required replacing though as far as I am aware.

They have reduced the time for the 1.8T petrol one too

And yet I had a real uphill struggle pursuading my dealer to do it.They thought I was stoopid asking for it to be done at 50k (on a Y plate)

What do you charge to change the belt/pump and whatever else needs changing?

Mines coming up for four years now and Im booked in with Jabbasport for the belt, metal impellor water pump and a 40k service (even though Im only on 28k!)

I trust them more than a dealer and they were also cheaper! :)

On the 1.8T it was due a change every 100k but VAG brought that down to 80k due to tensioner failures.
